Benzie Visitor Bureau – 01/05

Happy Humpday all, Better news but not great news. Odd news actually! After the meltdown the end of last week, trails were all poor to not rideable. Now yesterdays little clipper dropped anywhere from several inches to 10" on the south end (#1) So, groomers are out grooming #1 between Highbridge and Kaleva and gonna try the T-Ville area but the further north the less snow, so grooming is not done and poor riding to the north #2 and #3. We need snow! Its at least colder again and forecast is calling for what could be several inches! So do the dance, cross the fingers that we get that and can get all trails looking spiffy again! I’ll keep ya informed over the next couple days! By the way, if ya missed the last snowmobile safety class, there is another one this coming Saturday, the 8th, at the Snowbirds Clubhouse in Kaleva. Free of charge to anyone age 12 and up. Adults welcome and encouraged. Starts at 8am, ending about 2:30pm. Lunch provided by the Snowmobile Club. Clubhouse is at 14121 Industrial Ave. in Kaleva. And starting in January running thru February, every Saturday 10am -4pm. is Open House day at the Club! Everyone is welcome to stop by to warmup and visit! Please, do me a favor! To keep ALL parts of the trails open for us, STAY ON THE TRAIL! This means YOU! Its not just a given that we get every inch of trail for our fun. We gotta stay on track at all times! By the way, those groomers are out there volunteering their time and energy to us, so if ya see one, get outta their way and give them a thumbs up as they go by! THANKS! Ride smart, sober, & safe! HAPPY NEW YEAR and I’ll CYA ON THE TRAILS! Carol

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – Evert’s Snowmobile Rentals – 01/06

The snowmobile trails from TwinLakes to CopperHarbor are open, and groomers are out working on them. Trails are reported to be in good to very good condition except for Trails 122, 133 and the High Rock trail which are in poor condition with wet areas and low snow. Trail usage one these trails should be done with care until we have better snow cover

Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails…….they have the right of way!!
There is logging on a short portion of Trail 133 between Gay and Lac La Belle.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.
