Benzie Area Trail Report – Benzie Bureau – 02/21

Benzie-Manistee Snowmobile Club – 02/21

Trails are fair to non existence do to snow drifts, some base building in places. There has been so much drifting that it looks in places we received more then we really did. Have not heard from trail coordinator about up-dates yet, only telling as I see trails on south end but will pass news along as soon as I hear something.

Benzie Visitor Bureau – 02/18

Hi all! TGIF! But not such good news for now. Our last few warm up days have seen rain and sun and it has been wrecking the trails pretty good. Lots of bare spots out there and not much riding area left. But the warm up is supposed to be over otday and cold tonight again with snow in the forecast again Sunday. So don’t give up! It "ain’t" over yet! Still only February, so once we get more snow and cold we’ll be back at it. I’ll let ya know first of the week if we got some snow again, so hang tight, get them ready to go again, hopefully soon! rm spell and although the trails are hanging on, they are deteriorating with each warm day. Its a bit colder at night but still right around freezing and warmer and sun in the day isn’t helping. Its supposed to get back to cold and chance of snow by the weekend so hopefully we hold on till then and then we get more snow snow snow! So, I’ll touch base later in the week in the hopes of good news! Do me a favor, ALL parts of the trails are not just a free for all for us, so STAY ON THE TRAIL! This means YOU! Its not just a given that we get every inch of trail for our fun. By the way, those groomers are out there volunteering their time and energy to us, so if ya see one, get outta their way and give them a thumbs up as they go by! Ride smart, sober, & safe! CYA ON THE TRAILS! Carol

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 02/21

Back to the deep freeze on the Keweenaw! Everything that was once soft is now very, very hard. Groomers are out working on the trails – conditions range from poor in towns, road crossings and low snow areas to good in the woods. Cross country trails are pretty much icy – Mt Bohemia also. Still LOTS of snow tho with more in the forecast – so come on up!

The snowmobile trails from TwinLakes to CopperHarbor are open, and groomers are out working on them. Trails are reported to range from poor condtion in towns and low snow areas to good condition in the woods. Please watch for icy trail corners.

Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails…….they have the right of way!!
There is logging on a short portion of Trail 133 between Gay and Lac La Belle.

*During the CopperDog 150 sled dog race on March 4 – 6 the Department of Natural Resources and Environment recommends that snowmobilers take advantage of alternate routes which are available to reach all destinations safely and with minimal delays. Snowmobilers will be discouraged from using active race trail segments while that particular segment of the race is in progress.*

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.
