Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 01/16

Greetings Sledders,

We had a full house on Saturday and everyone reported good rides considering that we are still in the early season riding part of the year and and contrary to other reports good bases have yet to be established, it’s a process that takes time and continued snowfalls but we are certainly getting there. More on that in 2/3rds of a minute.

We fired up both Deere’s on Friday and panned all 86 miles in one day which is actually 172 as every mile gets two passes. It may not seem like much but believe me "Groomer neck" can be felt that night and the next day.

GROOMING:
We ran everything Sat. night and yesterday and stood down today waiting for more snow which is just around the corner. In grooming, timing is everything, all forecasts are calling for snow starting tomorrow and continuing into the night which is perfect because it gives us time to pan and let the trails set without volumes of traffic. There’s also an indication of a warm up on Sun. and maybe even rain on Mon. which can also be good because it puts some moisture into what we have and the best time to groom is when the snow is somewhat moist without traffic. Could be a good set up if it’s not too severe.

TRAILS:
Right now there’s an early season mixed bag out there. Some really good stretches and some snirty ones although the snirt is fairly limited, and that appears to be changing given the forecast. I think that the upcoming week and weekend should be good to go if the forecasts hold true.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Girls

At Fay’s Motel enjoy direct access to the Grayling Area snowmobile trails.

Gaylord Area Trail Report – VisitGaylord.com – 01/16

Monday afternoon Snow and Trail Update….
by Heart Lake Resort on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 2:11pm

Warmer today here in Gaylord – 30.2 as I write this. Folks are up riding this week and still finding good snow off the main trails. Main trails are starting to look rough and dirty in places but this new snow and colder temps that are coming our way will make a big difference. One of the best sites for accurate temps and snowfall is NOAA.gov. Just plug Gaylord, Michigan in and you’ll see exactly what I see – or where ever you plan to go for that matter. They don’t talk about trail conditions of course, but just accurate and very updated info. Or, whether you stay with us or not, you can always give me a call here at Heart Lake Resort as well if you need to know more. Thanks. John 989-732-5081 More later this week….
