Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling
Thursday February 16, 2012 7:30 a.m. Coming at you from downtown Frederic this morning and if you were going to ride right this minute would be the time to do it as we have a good 2 inches and maybe 3 of a nice new snow overnight, its a nice tight packy snow so thats why I say this would be the time to ride. Its 31 right now and the weather says high of 38 today but cooling down the next couple days. What we have out there will get tore up in a hurry but its the best we have had in almost a few weeks. I am sure this will bring out some sleds that just cant wait to hit the trails. I wish I could tell you more and the snow at my house in grayling was about the same as it is here. Gotta head back to town to return to my jury box. We will be open here at Sledheads today. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Greetings Sledders,
We got 3" of heavy wet snow overnight and I decided to take the Classic out for a spin. All in all it was a decent ride but the $64,000 question is how long will it hold up.
To find the answer to that perplexing question we have to look at what we know and take a guess at the impact of what we know 1) The temps tomorrow will be in the mid to upper 30’s which could be real ugly if the cloud cover clears. 2) Without a doubt there will be traffic and I noticed some corner ripping on the Frederic trail already and we all know what happens as traffic increases. 3) There isn’t much in the way of new snow in the weekend forecast ouch!!
That said, we are rating the trails as fair and it’s likely that some segments like the Frederic trail for instance will fall back to poor by the middle of the weekend at the latest. Other segments that gets less traffic will probably stay in the fair range. Off trail and two tracks should stay in good shape.
This is a best guess folks as we don’t have the device that you look into to see the future. I would not rate above a fair in any event.
Next report? Don’t know at the moment probably Monday.
Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Girls
