Munising Area Trail Report – 02/24
MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 02/24 TRAIL REPORT – Wednesday, 2-24-2021 A WARM WEATHER HIT BUT HANGING ON! We received about an inch of new snow last night and it’s still falling. Operators reported fair grooming results with our Trail System in Overall Good condition, staying fairly flat through the day with some icy corners developing. The trails are soft and not setting after grooming due to the warm weather. Ride with caution. In the towns and along highways you will be finding dirty snow and bare spots. Trail 8 from Shingleton to Trail 7 South is the highest used section of trail with snow sugary along that stretch. Even with this warm spell, the trails are hanging on for some really good riding – but barely. Yesterday work was done on the JD 7130 repairing a fuel tank bracket and groove cutting was started on the front tracks. This will hopefully solve our icy hill climb issues we get on both sides of Munising after these low snow warm spells. Please respect residential property owners and STAY ON THE TRAIL, No Snowmobile Signs mean just that. Please DO NOT run the Powerlines off of Trail 419. Reinforcements from Pennsylvania have arrived also! We are hitting it hard for this weekend with a short preventative maintenance window planned for the machine on Saturday. Temps are warming up during the day, making the trail soft and letting moguls form, but temps will drop again for the weekend! That means better trails for Saturday. Looks warm for the start of next week with temps near 30 by Tuesday. Get out and ride while the riding is good!
