More snow in the forecast for today but only 1-3. Temps are going to be in the teens with lows in the single digits and below zero. Groomers from all the clubs have been out getting the trails back in shape after our storm this past weekend.

THE GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY reports on 2/28/19 grooming is ongoing. If you see a groomer please pull over and let them pass.

Trail 2 from Hurley to Ramsay Crossing is very good was last groomed 2/27/19. Please do not ride on sidewalks near Holiday and try to keep the noise down in town.

Trail 2 from Ramsay Crossing to Wakefield is very good was last groomed 2/26/19. PLEASE REMEBER TO CROSS US HWY 2 IN THE CORRECT LANE OF TRAVEL, DO NOT BLOCK HWY TURN LANES!

Wakefield to Marenisco is very good was lasted groomed 2/26/19. This trail is a mix of twisty but wide forest roads (13mi) and 12mi of rail bed to Marenisco. This beautiful trail is 12 miles of unplowed wide logging roads that wind their way through the Gogebic Range Hills before running 10 miles of rail-trail to Marenisco. PLEASE STOP AT ALL STOP SIGNS ON THE RAIL TRAIL! There is a significant logging presence on FR-8100 with dozens of log trucks hauling out daily. Last week an accident occurred with a log truck. Stop at the stop signs!!

Trail 8 from Bingos to Tula Crossing is very good and was last groomed 2/27/19. Bingo’s is closed and has no gas….

Trail 160 from Walmart to Montreal River (WI) is very good last groomed 2/27/19. This is their most scenic trail and a treat to ride! Stay on the trail in the farm fields. Over 25 landowners are involved to make this trail a reality, please respect them and ride responsibly.

Trail 11S is in very good condition it was last groomed 2/28/19. It is groomed all the way to the WI line. This 17 mile long trail has 2 stop signs and is a wilderness tour. The southern 3 miles get thinner, but remains in good condition.

Trail 11 N is closed indefinitely.

THE GOGEBIC AREA GROOMERS report from 2/25/19. We received over 20” of snow with our most recent blizzard. Gogebic Area Grooming will be heading out to break trails soon, but they have one groomer down due to mechanical issues. Parts are being ordered today they hope to have it up and running by Wednesday. Groomers ask that you please be patient as it is going to take some effort to get the trails back in shape. We will update when we know that groomers are heading out. Temps are brisk today and don’t get much past the mid teens. Snow (again) in the forecast for Wednesday and then on Friday.

Please be safe and use caution and good judgment.

Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Here's an image of the always incredible Bond Falls - at night!

Astrophotography is a never-ending journey into the unseen. We have fantastic tools at our disposal now to take a peek into the world beyond our eyesight limitations. That's what draws me to this.. and what drives me to experiment more and keep pushing boundaries.

For this shot - I took (4) 2-minute tracked sky images and stacked them. Then processed them in a program designed for deep sky objects taken with a telescope. This would be the equivalent to 8-minutes of data. What was able to be extracted from this was quite amazing to me. Those faint dust lanes on the outer edges of the Milky Way are now visible. I then took this processed shot and blended that with a long exposure shot of the foreground.

So the big question - is this real? Yes, it absolutely is. This can be done with one single exposure, if you wish. You just won't see this amount of detail or sharpness in the foreground. All of the images used to create this were taken from the same night, on the same tripod, without moving it 🙂

Our trail project is completed for trail 8 north of Bergland. We ask people to please stay off with ATV’s and Side by Sides. The trail now is crowned to let water run on the edges of the trail instead of the center. More project to be completed very soon. Those leaves are changing color already😉 ... See MoreSee Less

Thank you so much! I hope more riders and trail abusers see these posts and are able to appreciate how much work go into trails and how few people actually do the work. We’ll see you in December.

Finally getting some trail work done
with this Covid set back. This is trail 8 between Trail 1 and 102. This was a bad trail that water run off would cause dangerous trail conditions. With the trail now crowned and ditched with culverts, we should have a much safer trail. Think snow ❄️
