This is a trail report from a local rider:

Trail 13 Root Cellar to trail 8 – very good – some thin spots by Root Cellar but more base further north

Trail 8 to Ewen – started out very good but thinned nearing Ewen with rocks showing

Trail 13 Rockland to Bergland – very good to excellent – both GAG and North Country groomers section

Trail 1&8 top of Bergland – very good

noted early afternoon lots of snowmobilers heading north on trail 13

Talked to several groups of snowmobilers – all reported trails very good (trails 2&1 to Presque and trail 1 Marenisco to Lodge

(The reason for the thinning on Trail 8 east near Ewen is because of salt from the nearby roadway.)

More snow for Saturday, Sunday, Monday and big storm for Tuesday!!! Plus more cold!!!!

As previously posted, please stay on the trails in Bergland. You are not allowed to ride the highway through town and may be ticketed. You can only access the gas station by following the trail through the park and crossing directly across from the gas station from Antonio’s Restaurant. If riding the roads through Merriweather (down to the Hoop ‘N Holler Tavern or to the lake) please remember to ride at the posted speed limit of 25 mph and stay to the side and as always be aware that this is a residential area and watch for traffic.

Groomer Report

Trails are much improved with the return to colder temps and we’ve been receiving a few inches of new snow just about every day over the last week, with a call for additional snowfall over the weekend. For next week predictions are calling for a big storm to hit us on Tuesday! Yeah!!

Groomers are out on all trails with good reports of wet areas frozen back up with only a few minor spots to watch for. Please remember that trail 100 (at the south end of the lake) is closed until logging is finished in this area. Riding the roadways through this area is prohibited. Hopefully with the colder temps they’ll be able to get back in now and remove the logs that have been cut. We’ll keep you posted as soon as there are any changes.
