Munising Area Trail Report – 03/20

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 03/20

TRAIL REPORT – Saturday, 03/20/2021 PREPARING FOR THE SNOW/ORV TRANSITION! Grooming operations have stopped. Continued warm and sunny weather has base snow disappearing fast with dirty snow, large bare sections, standing and flowing water and icy conditions. Some sections are very wet and slushy with deep water in areas. Those who are still trying to get some sled time in are off trail riding, many up in the Kingston Plains area. Friday we moved the last machine back to the barn. All 3 are tucked away waiting for their spring clean-up. Only 12 days now until the ORV season officially opens so stay tuned as we make the transition to summer trail work and playtime.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan - With meteorological summer underway, here’s a look back at how the 2020-2021 snowfall season stacked up across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The snow season certainly didn’t stack up to U.P. standards as snowfall ranged from roughly 20 to as much as around 80 inches below the long term average. The greatest departures occurred in some areas within the Lake Superior snowbelts. The last winter that had a poor snow showing on par with what occurred this past winter was 2011-2012. You can view past snow seasons back to 2002-2003 at www.weather.gov/mqt/seasonsnowfallmaps #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo ... See MoreSee Less

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 03/19

It’s truly is crazy to think we are already talking about end of the season rides! I don’t know about you, but this season started way too late and appears to be ending way too early to me!

Well Adam Garvey was definitely one of the first out riding at the beginning of the season and it appears he is working on being one of the last…..

Adam shared these beautiful photos and said, “Everyone keeps saying it’s over, I’m going to say it’s ALMOST over. The trails north of Phoenix where hard and fast this morning…(note I did not say smooth). Trail 134 is by far the best riding! Would I recommend people trailer up here, absolutely not, but if you are fortunate enough to have the Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula in your back yard there is still time for one last braap! 😉”

WOW! Thanks for making everyone else extremely jealous of how you are spending your day! I’m determined to join you on the last ride of the season yet Adam! 😉

I would really like to give Adam a huge “thank you”for always being willing to go out and “take one for the team” by riding and reviewing conditions! It’s a huge help to many riders Adam!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - when you just can’t say the seasons over and 5 inches of fresh snow falls....you RIDE!
Well it turns out Trent Seorum
was not the only one that took advantage of the 5 inches of fresh snow that fell on the 27th and 28th.....
Robbie and Molly Tobin Burk
brought their daughters up to Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula for their first time ever and for their last family ride of the season! This was not just a quick rip on the trails.... the family put on 140 miles!
Robbie messaged me and said, “Was blessed this year for sure....Mother Nature delivered fresh White Gold for us to get one last Family ride in and boy was it BREATHTAKING !!
The Beauty of the Keewenaw Peninsula taught my girls how important it is to just take some time and soak it all in and take advantage of what mother nature has to offer us !!
(This was thier first visit to Keewenaw)
I thought I'd share some pics of our adventures with you as I know you are also a big fan of the Keewenaw Peninsula, 140 miles worth of smiles the last two days. We ended up driving the truck, (the snow started getting too thin)to The Mariner North
for a great meal! The girls want to come back next year for sure. We are headed back home tomorrow in the a.m from Calumet.
FYI....we had the woods to ourselves however we did cross paths with Trent Seorum yesterday..lol 😂”
Absolutely beautiful photos Robbie and Molly! Thank you so much for sharing! I’m certain others are just as jealous as I am! ... #keweenaw #snowphotos

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - It’s not over 😮 Photos from 3/28/21
Trent Seorum
actually got out for a ride today after the small amount of fresh snow fell last night.... late season riding like this might not be be for everyone.... but Trent enjoyed his ride and shared these photos and a quick review of trails ....
“Got out for a ride after the dusting of snow last night. Left from Cliff Drive and headed north to Copper Harbor. I took Brockway on the way there and looped out towards High Rock on the way back taking trail 134 back to trail 3. Brockway and a good portion of the grade would be unrideable without the dusting of snow but where 134 splits off 3 toward high rock is flat and fast with the best snow of all trails ridden today.”
Thanks for sharing Trent! ... #keweenaw #snowphotos
