Traverse City Area Trail Report – 01/04

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 01/04

The groomers went out last night. Groomer Sid did the North trail and said the the trail panned out good. Groomer Steve did the east and had the same results. He ran into some heavy bands of lake effect snow along the way and took a video for us. Groomer Dave did the loop and said that the southern trail was thin but the northern parts groomed out nicely. Thanks guys for volunteering your time!

Remember, Ride Right, Ride Safe, Ride Sober.

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Ranch Rudolf – 01/04

A little fresh snow for a Saturday!
Weekend hours and trail report:
We will be open and serving lunches today, 1/4 noon to 4:30pm and tmrw, 1/5 noon to 3pm.
Trails are in fair shape. Certainly nice to see some snow! Groomers went out last night. Sid did the north trail and reports trails in fair condition. Some thin spots and some wet spots, but overall covered and smooth and it’s still snowing now. Another groomer went east toward Kalkaska and things are decent. No groomers were sent south to fife lake or fairgrounds because a little less snow that way, but possibly today due to the continuing snow.
Thank you to all the volunteer groomer drivers! They are always in need of more volunteers if you are interested, please reach out to the Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club.
Beau and Knox are sold out with their ever popular winter hayrides this weekend, but please call 231-947-9529 to make a reservation for another weekend- rides available through February.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> ~(Updated) Snowfall Forecast Sunrise Sunday-Sunrise Tuesday~
A major winter storm is expected to bring significant snowfall to portions of the region. Most of the accumulating snow will be along and north of I-80. No matter how much snow will fall, there will be strong northwest winds that will create blowing and drifting snow. Travel north of I-80 will be near impossible at times. Some road closures are possible along and north of I-90 given greater accumulation and more persistent blizzard-like conditions. Heaviest snowfall totals through sunrise Tuesday (there will be more after) will be along Lake Superior. Snowfall rates could exceed 2" an hour at times due to lake enhancement. Expect over a foot in most areas along the lakeshore before dropping as you get closer to the WI border. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey~OUTDATED~
