The snowmobile trails from TwinLakes to CopperHarbor are open, and groomers are out working on them. Most trails are snow covered but in early season condition and riders should be aware that there are rocks, stumps, branches and wet areas not yet covered by snow and hazards that have not yet been identified. Any trail usage should be done with extreme care until we have better snow cover.
Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails…….they have the right of way!!
There is logging on a short portion of Trail 133 between Gay and Lac La Belle. The protective mat on the PortageLiftBridge between Houghton and Hancock will not be installed until the middle of December. Please drive carefully on the metal grating until the mat is installed…..do NOT use the ice.
The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.

Hi all! It’s almost the weekend! Last weekend’s storm dropped at 6-18 inches of new snow but with it came huge winds again too. Lots of snow out there and we saw many trees down, limbs, drifts all making real work for the groomers plus then the north groomer broke down, BUT that groomer is back up and running so that area will be groomed and looking better tonight! Still some trees and limbs down and some signs are covered to some extent so be careful! Some clear cutting has changed the wind patterns so its gotten harder to deal with too. Highbridge to Turtle Lake is looking better now too, so overall, its looking good and only getting better as groomers make their way thru and we get more snow! We have a decent base started, at least 6″ under there with about 14-18″ of snow in the woods. A few inches of snow is forecast for Friday and Saturday, so that with all groomers out, it’s gonna make it great! Looking good for the weekend baby! Bring a camera out there cuz its gorgeous! Gonna be good Holiday riding! Hey Clint, thanks for checking in and emailing me and Paul! way to go! You make my day! I LOVE the pictures and report! THANK TONS! So, get out and enjoy! Its our time baby! Do me a favor PLEASE! In order for us to keep ALL parts of the trails open for us, STAY ON THE TRAIL! This means YOU! Its not just a given that we get every inch of trail for our fun. We gotta stay on track at all times! By the way, those groomers are out there volunteering their time and energy to us, so if ya see one, get outta their way and give them a thumbs up as they go by! Drop me an email and stories, sights, & pics so I know you are out there! Stay smart, sober, & safe out there for me k? And hey – I’ll CYA ON THE TRAILS! Carol
