It’s a nice calm sunday morning in downtown Frederic, almost noon. Sleds are out and about buzzing town. Typically on super bowl sunday everyone leaves town early. We had a total of I would say 6 to 8 inches of nice system snow yesterday. One nice thing with this much snow is that there is so much of it that it spreads the riders out so it doesnt seem as busy. This doesnt happen very often. Yesterday I heard the train horn and right away I knew it was the annual Michigan State Police train and they are looking for sledders that are doing things wrong like to close to the tracks. There must have been 4 sheriff cars and 4 state police tahoes coming thru town at the same time. In the pic below look at the big MSP magnet they put on the train. Moral of the story is stay away from the train tracks. Also the post from yesterday where the table full of people that didnt pay at the swamp was taken care of. They made it right so thats good. First sled in this morning was Clifford who swung thru to say hi. He wins the hard charger award just for driving so far and keeping all of his sleds running. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Light snow today brings minor accumulations, with lingering snow Tuesday mainly across eastern Upper. Partly cloudy skies Christmas Eve, then a light rain/snow mix is expected late Christmas Day. FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE >> Its a quiet monday morning. I have seen 2 sleds go by but there was no new snow overnight.
Forcast is not favorable for later this week but I am sure there will be some sleds out and about as people
just do not want to wait. Hoping it will kick in but thats the best we can do. Its still nice and white out even though we lost alot of snow.

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> A touch of new snow overnight but not enough to get excited about. Another day of slow sled traffic on saturday. I did count about 25 sleds across the street yesterday at the peak and I see a few over there now for breakfast. Still light snow in the air. I am certainly not thrilled with the forcast this coming week and it did make it up to 36 yesterday. The sleds that are out there are making the best of what we do have. For the first time in a few years Junior and the Obama Tour stopped by so it was good to visit with them. They are hoping for more riding this season too. Uncertainty exists primarily in our trace-1" category which extends from Frankfort and Alpena south to I-96/I-69. The clipper moving through today may produce a quick squall of rain & snow with minimal accumulation some time beyond 1 pm EST, but models haven't determined if this band will solidify or not. If it does, the chance for a rain/snow mix exists in areas highlighted in the pink dashed box. This rain/snow mix would only be today. Any snow on Sunday will be lake effect off of Lake Superior, hence why our highest totals of 4-8" are located east of Munising over to Paradise. I only saw about a dozen sleds on friday and I see a few over at the swamp this morning probably having the breakfast buffet. Last nite I went there for a mushroom and swiss burger and they had a band. To bad the place was pretty empty. We had about 1 inch of fluff overnight and I dont expect to see to many people today. I had the loader come last nite to move snow at both my storage lot and my parking lot behind Sledheads. It was so bad yesterday after the thaw I needed that big equipment to make it more tolerable.
