HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club – 12/22
Our first groomer hit the trails on the railroad grade to do some panning yesterday. There is very little snow up towards Mackinaw but as you go south it’s much better (about 8” south of Pellston).
⚠️ We have two groomers headed out this afternoon to pan on the East & West sides from our Harbor Groomer barn. This is the only time we ever groom during the day – so please watch out if you are out riding!! ⚠️
The storm that’s headed our way is expected to dump 1-2 feet of snow but with that they are calling for 50mph winds. That is going to leave us a major mess, so be patient with us as it is also the Holidays. We will update you after the storm.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> After a mild and occasionally rainy day today, much colder temperatures arrive this evening through Friday. Temperatures are expected to fall a good 10-20 degrees this evening through tonight. leading to a potential flash freeze of wet roads. Renewed snow chances will accompany this colder air with several inches of accumulation, especially in the snow belts of northern lower & eastern upper. In addition, strong winds upwards of 35-45 mph late tonight into Friday will lead to blowing snow. PETOSKEY AREA UPDATE via Petoskey Snowmobile and ORV Club >> Trails groomed tonight by Shane and Joe. If the weather warms above 30 degrees we won't groom until it cools down. The drag can chunk the trail leaving behind large snow balls that freeze and can hurt someone. We will be back out as soon as it gets cold again. #petoskeyTrails groomed tonight by Shane and Joe. HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> We had all three of our groomers out last night and overall the trails are in good shape. The Alanson trail still has the least amount of snow & we still have some open water holes. Great start to the season!
We have some above freezing weather coming in over the next few days with possible rain on Thursday & back to freezing on Friday. We are hoping to get out and groom again Thursday night depending on what the weather does. We will keep everyone updated. #harborsprings #petoskey #snowphotos
