HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club – 01/19
We had a great turnout for the 60th Annual Moose Jaw Safari! We had roughly 160 sleds leave from the groomer barn & picked up multiple groups along the way. Thank you to this years trail boss Rob Parson for leading the way!
The trails are getting thin in some areas but are still rideable, the forecast is showing 8” between today & Wednesday! Almost all of our trails were groomed between yesterday morning & last night. We will be out on the grade tonight running Pellston to Alanson, there’s not enough snow to go any further north.

PETOSKEY AREA UPDATE via Petoskey Snowmobile and ORV Club >> Trails groomed tonight by Shane and Joe. If the weather warms above 30 degrees we won't groom until it cools down. HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> We had all three of our groomers out last night and overall the trails are in good shape. The Alanson trail still has the least amount of snow & we still have some open water holes. Great start to the season!
We have some above freezing weather coming in over the next few days with possible rain on Thursday & back to freezing on Friday. We are hoping to get out and groom again Thursday night depending on what the weather does. We will keep everyone updated. #harborsprings #petoskey #snowphotos

Matt is heading south on 76 from Chandler Hill Road to our turn around with Jordan Valley. The green dot are groomers. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Lake effect snow continues tonight into Sunday as winds shift more northwesterly, shifting focus of snows with time. Gusty winds will lead to blowing and drifting snow, leading to quick drops in visibility – especially across open areas. Wind chills look to stay below zero today into tonight. HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> We had all three groomers out last night & the snow was coming down! Everything was groomed other than the Alanson Trail & Cross Village loop. The Alanson trail has the least amount of snow on our system & there are still some open water holes but overall the trails are in good shape.
Trees are continuing to fall from the ice storm damage earlier this year so please keep that in mind when out riding & especially in high winds. If you come across a down tree & are unable to safely remove it from the trail please let us know.
Temperatures are supposed to stay cold through the weekend & we are expected to get another 2-6 inches of snow. There is a warm up predicted Tuesday-Thursday with possible rain, we are hoping that changes but we will keep everyone updated.

Several inches of snow is expected across parts of northwest lower and the eastern U.P. by Saturday morning with additional lake effect snow continuing through Saturday. Below zero wind chills are expected for most areas late tonight through Saturday. Wind gusts of 25-35+ mph will lead to patchy blowing/drifting snow, especially across open areas. Quickly dropping temps tonight may freeze wet roads by Saturday morning.
