Lake Gogebic Trail Report – Walley Lodge – 02/26

We’ve not had a chance to get out and ride….so i thought I’d post a report from the guys at SnowSnakes, and this is what they had to say about the trail conditions in the Lake Gogebic Area:

February 23

After our warm up ride yesterday we decided to head for Lake of the Clouds. We headed out around 9 and rode to Wakefield for breakfast at Korner Kitchen. You have to go off the trail a bit, but they have signs along the streets for you to follow. It’s well worth the trip over there! Trail 11 from Winchester to Wakefield was in awesome shape. We were the first sleds through there since all of the powder had fallen. After breakfast we gassed up and rode towards Bergland. Trail 8 was beat up a bit, mainly due to the weekend traffic. When we got closer to Bergland we crossed paths with the groomer and it was smooth sailing after that. We took trail 102 north to trail 11 and made our way to Lake of the Clouds. Then we rode through Silver City on our way to Konteka in White Pine. We got gas at Konteka and made our way to Bergland. We rode the lake down to trail 1 and made our way back to Presque Isle. There is plenty of snow for the whole area and the trails were in excellent condition!

FYI – the Bergland Mobil has closed, so plan you’re fueling accordingly.

Lake Gogebic Trail Report – Walley Lodge – 01/29

Wow… I think every snowmobiler in the Midwest visited our area this weekend! And we were all glad to see you all – hope you all had a great time enjoying the snow. That said, the trails did take a beating with all the extra traffic this weekend, however, our groomer drivers are working hard to return the trails to their best condition which won’t take long at all. The forecast is still calling for more snow over this next week with more rider friendly temperatures. So keep on coming back to have more fun on the Lake Gogebic trail system.

The word is that the ice heaves we experienced over last weekend (between the Hoop ‘N Holler Tavern and the Fishtales Resort) have settled down some, however you still need to use caution and keep your eyes open for any issues like this while riding the lake. Scope out your route first at a slower speed before really opening up your sled.

FYI – the Bergland Mobil has closed, so plan you’re fueling accordingly.
