Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/26
January 26, 2021
15 degrees this morning under a cloudy sky. It looks like it is gonna stay cool for the next week with highs in the low 20`s and lows in the low teens but just a slight chance of snow anywhere around here. This just sucks!!
I am really starting to regret putting out these reports with nothing positive to say other than the cold weather to hang around…..WE REALLY NEED SNOW!!!!!!! I see other reports from around the area that they are grooming but we just don`t have the snow here that other areas have. I want you all to understand something….we are ready, willing and able to hit the trails with our groomers once we get some snow. We don`t want to beat up our equipment on frozen dirt and ice now and then when we FINALLY get snow we are down with broken groomers!! When I groomed last Saturday I broke a cutting blade and a spreader blade on a drag and I was being really careful and going only 4-5 MPH…it was a long trip!
I have received a few e-mails asking if our trails are even open. The answer is YES they are with the exception of the 3 mile section of swamp south of town. There is some sections with decent snow that we can rate as good-fair and some sections that are poor due to the lack of snow.
I`ll be watching the weather close and hoping for some snow and something positive to report. Remember, I will NEVER sugar coat a thing for you! It is what it is and we can`t do nutin bout it. Ya`ll do your best snow dances!!!!!!!!!

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Halfway Lake Cottages, LLC >> When they closed the doctors offices last night because of conditions then we woke to about 6 inches of snow on top of ice, Chris decided to stay home. He spent 5 hours plowing then we went for a ride. We took 9 to Pine Stump and back and it was an amazing ride minus the sleeping child riding with me! We passed the groomer on the way there and on the way back! The picture of our backs is actually from the TASA page! Hey - it’s a family picture! 😂 #newberry #snowphotos
Oh how I miss seeing Tara and Stephen gilsdorf
You may have been one of the few groups I saw today. Pretty sure I saw you on 9 today. My favorite trail in Michigan but it has taken 5 of my helmets peaks this winter. I plan on doing some brushing this summer on 9.

we rode 9 saturday and sunday it was perfect, almost doesnt need groomed , 433 and 431 were in need and 440 needs closed down all together, most everything else could use it but not bad
