We have some snowmobiling friends who have volunteered to come up to GM this weekend to help us with this monster clearing task on the trails. If you could comment here-we need to know who will be here to work Friday and those that can be here for Saturday. We’ll set up a game plan and post it here. We are so appreciative of your offers of help. Our guys are already exhausted and have a long ways to go. Again-thank you!!
Dec.4, 2019 It is hard to believe that the time is here already for snowmobiling! There are many of you that have long awaited this moment. We have had two significant snowfalls over the past week and a half. There is over 2-3 feet of snow in some areas. In saying the previous there are a lot of down trees and hidden dangers. The groomers and volunteer’s are out trying to clean up the trails for you enjoyment. This is going to be a slow process in all areas of the U.P, but they are working daily to clean it up. However, just because a portion of a trail has been cleaned does not mean that a brittle tree has broken off and blocked the trail once again. There are portions of the trails that are open and all the county roads are snow packed to take a cruise on. We DO NOT encourage or Condone any high rates of speed. The dangers are real as you well know. The trails officially open Dec. 15th or sooner once hunting season is over or the land owners give permission to TASA to open the gates that cross over their property. We will post that information once it is available. TASA works mostly with volunteers. We have the best groomers in the U.P. They dedicate long hours and nights away from their families to groom the trails so you can enjoy them safely. Please be cautious as you approach a groomer as there is not much room for them and you so please slow down and once there is room then go around them. It is always appreciated when you can tip your hat to them and thank them for their efforts or give them a wave. Be Safe out there and take time to enjoy nature and the best scenery the U.P has to offer.
TASA has a new groomer coming this week and will post pictures once it arrives!
The Northstore on Cnty Rd 407 is opening from 9am and closes at 11pm 7 days a week starting this Friday Dec. 6th. Gas, Snacks and general information. No sled rentals are available here until Dec.16th.
The hours of operation for the Pine Stump where you can gas up will be posted once available.
Trail #9/2/473 (South of Newberry) The trail was groomed and brushed back yesterday and last night. (Trout Lake Trail) Trail #45 North of town is closed from town to Skyline Rd. You can access the trail going north from here and ride it all the way to County Rd 500 and then the county roads from there. CAUTION!!!! There trail has not been groomed, brushed back or tree removal yet so there could be trees down and helmet bangers along the way. The bridge north of Camp snort has been replaced. It is a narrow bridge on a corner so please slow down! Trail #9 North The trail is closed coming out of town to the Silver Creek Staging area. You can access 9 North from the staging area. The trail has not been groomed or brushed back yet so BEWARE of downed trees. A moderate rate of speed is Strongly suggested. TASA will be working to brush back the trail this week.
It has not been extremely cold yet so there are wet areas. The best information I can gather is North around Paradise there are many tress blocking the trails.
Curfew in the Village of Newberry is 11:00pm to 7:00am. SEE YOU SOON!!!!!!!!!!
