Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/26

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org – 2/26

February 26, 2020

14 degrees this morning and partly cloudy with a stiff NE breeze giving us a wind chill of minus 9…..at least it cooled off some! No new snow in the last few days but they are calling for some lake effect to start kicking in tonight……lets hope so! Here`s whats been going on with the trails…….

Groomer Mike ran the Pine Stump trail #8 yesterday and called it good.

Groomer Glenn ran the Point trails #452 and #453 and called them good but there are a few thin spots where the sun baked them a bit on top of the ridges.

Groomer Dave M. ran the Falls trail #45 yesterday and called that good.

We haven`t run the South trail #8 since Sunday for fear of breaking up the swamp south of town. If that happens we`re screwed, but with the colder weather yesterday and last night I am gonna run it tomorrow. Just from runnin it last Sunday I`m sure its in good shape though, except for the swamp section, which I rated as fair-poor on my last report. We haven`t had much traffic in town this week.

Soooo…..if you`re thinking about coming UP this weekend, I say go for it!!!!! All of our trails are flat but they are gonna be hard and icey in some spots. If this lake effect kicks in they will be golden!! All we need is 6 inches!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 02/25

Greetings Sledders,

The trails can only endure so many body blows by the Sun and this last round has taken it’s toll.
Here is the latest poop by segment:
Trail #7 from Grayling to Frederic is poor.
Trail #679 fared better and is snow covered from Frederic to the intersection of #79.
Trail #79 is good on the upper half, the Southern half is poor.
Trail #47 ( Lovells ) is fair to good according to the driver. The real challenge is getting to it as Lewiston Grade Rd is down to gravel from the Frederic Trail turn off to the start of the Lovells Trail.
Trail #7 South of M-72. I will groom that in the morning but I don’t expect anything better than poor. Better to have an ugly flat trail than an ugly bumpy one.
The weather forecast is calling for some snow on Thursday and Friday although it will be Lake Effect so it’s anybody’s guess as to where and how much we can expect.
Temps look to hold thru Saturday with yet another warm up on Sunday and Monday followed by more snow.

We will be grooming thru the weekend. If sledders are going to ride the trails we are compelled to groom them. Grooming school 101.

Wish I had better news but it is what it is.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Kids
