Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 02/25

Greetings Sledders,

The trails can only endure so many body blows by the Sun and this last round has taken it’s toll.
Here is the latest poop by segment:
Trail #7 from Grayling to Frederic is poor.
Trail #679 fared better and is snow covered from Frederic to the intersection of #79.
Trail #79 is good on the upper half, the Southern half is poor.
Trail #47 ( Lovells ) is fair to good according to the driver. The real challenge is getting to it as Lewiston Grade Rd is down to gravel from the Frederic Trail turn off to the start of the Lovells Trail.
Trail #7 South of M-72. I will groom that in the morning but I don’t expect anything better than poor. Better to have an ugly flat trail than an ugly bumpy one.
The weather forecast is calling for some snow on Thursday and Friday although it will be Lake Effect so it’s anybody’s guess as to where and how much we can expect.
Temps look to hold thru Saturday with yet another warm up on Sunday and Monday followed by more snow.

We will be grooming thru the weekend. If sledders are going to ride the trails we are compelled to groom them. Grooming school 101.

Wish I had better news but it is what it is.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Kids

At Fay’s Motel enjoy direct access to the Grayling Area snowmobile trails.

Hopefully a full recovery is made! Is COVID-19 over with, none of the responders look like they even have a mask on?

Hoping this person has a speedy recovery. Thank you to all that responded. I appreciate all of our law enforcement and first responders. God bless America.

O damn..... That was an expensive mistake... Hope he turns out well

It's time to end this misery. The black season in our area has been disappointing to say the least.

Neal (the tamale man) and Doug (the great mushroom killer) did team up over the week end. They picked 72 grays and yellows.

Doug will be in for the next couple weeks looking for yellows. He picked 114 yesterday. We'll see if he gets anywhere near his

2,500 (70 lbs?) from last year.

Well, everyone have a good summer and winter. Take care and we will see you next year.

Eager Shroomers,

Hope everyone is well and avoiding the the virus.

A quick update on the local fungus. Keith and I took a drive Sunday to check out a few of our usual spots. Nothing!! Not even one of Keith's babies.

Just to keep with the strangeness of this year, no leaves, no catkins but the tiger lilies and Dutchman's breeches are blooming and trillium are up and setting buds. Go figure!!

The weather man is calling for a cool week (40-50) and freezing at night with not much rain. Not sure what this will do for the harvest.

We have decided we will be open for contactless reservations only. We will take reservations over the phone with credit card info (cash can be left in the room) and keep the office closed.

We will not take walk-in reservations. Call us if you have any questions.

As always we'll keep you informed.

Stay well.
