Western U P Snowmobile Trail Report— 2/26/2020

Gogebic Range Trail Authority – Snowmobile & ORV Club Trail Report
Groomers were out last night reporting excellent conditions along trail 2 Ironwood to Marenisco and lake Gogebic. Bessemer to Wakefield is icy, but thanks to the new reroute riders won’t see much of an issue. We need some snow in there, which looks to come later this week/today. All in all we survived the warm-up VERY well and riders should have excellent riding this week and weekend, minus some short sections around towns.

Groomer Report
Feb 24, 2020
While the warm-up this weekend was not what was ordered – it was nice to see the sunshine – but now – it can go away 😊Groomers have been doing a great job all season at keeping our trails and the Lake Gogebic Area trails held up amazingly well throughout the weekend. Our temps drops into single digits mid—week with snow in the forecast. Groomers have and will continue to be out nightly. We still have tons of snow and more than a 3’ base. This was a bump and we rode it out well. Enjoy a great week of riding in the Lake Gogebic Area where “you are a stranger only once”!

Groomer Report
Groomers are running nightly, trails are in good to very good shape. The warm-up we had didn’t have much impact on the trails, but some road areas are now thin and icy.
Trail #3 from the Wisconsin border to Watersmeet good, Watersmeet to Paulding good.
Trail #2 east of Watersmeet to Trail #107, good but lots of traffic hard to hold the groom
Trail #13 south to Cisco Chain, good

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/26

Not a new flake of snow in sight……I don’t like the sounds of things to come either. I did end up seeing two sleds in Frederic yesterday but that was it. Nothing today so far. Still hard and icy and we need new snow on top to do any kind of riding. Been getting alot of calls about riders wanting to try it but I tell them no. Had a group of four Ohio guys in yesterday that were leary about trying it but they did end up buying trail permits as they were going to try for something as they came all this way. So for entertainment now I would urge you to go to http://www.darksideadventures.com

and read the Frostbytes blog, Rod does an incredible job of posting pictures and telling of their adventure. The snow is just unbelieveable in his pictures. The pictures I am posting today cover 23 years of Sledheads signs that I have had up on the trail across the street from here. The sign had fallen down so I put up a new one yesterday…..Thanks for checking in and THINK SNOW!!!!! Pete
