Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 03/21

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 3/21

As of Monday March 23, 2020, Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association will suspend all grooming on our 100 mile trail system. Trails are smooth at this time, but temps rising in the 40’s most of next week will deteriorate trails quickly. All of our volunteer groomer operators have worked hard to keep the trails in the best shape that they can.

With the rising temps, closed businesses and the health and safety of our volunteers top of mind, our 100 miles of trails will still stay open to snowmobiles even though we will not be grooming. They will remain open until March 31st 2020 on private property. (Example of private property includes most of trail 49 from the Soo to Kinross.)

State and Federal trails will stay open as long as rideable, but there will be no grooming of our 100 miles of trails.

Thank you all for riding our trail system and supporting the businesses that support the Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association. We will be looking forward to the next season. The work never ends with trail maintenance, groomer maintenance and DNR grant paper work. We appreciate all of our volunteers and the land owners that allow us to have the trail system that we have.

Stay safe everyone!

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 03/21

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 3/21

Trails in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula don’t look much like late season riding….. pretty much as good as they get in most areas. The fresh snow received Thursday night and Friday morning really put the icing on the cake!

Getting through Houghton/Hancock is still a bit challenging with the bare pavement areas, but it is being done by many riders staying south of the bridge.

Carry out is still available this weekend at the majority of restaurants and fuel is still available at Vansville Bar and Copper Harbor Fuel Stop.

⛽️Vansville Bar offers trailer parking to stage out of their lot, along with fuel, carryout pop, beer and liquor

⛽️Copper Harbor Fuel Stop offers fuel and has a convenience type store also

If you are out here riding today, enjoy the beautiful day and ride with caution as always.
