Newberry Trail Report – 02/07

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump – 02/07

Snowing this morning we will probably get a few inches of heavier snow!!

It looks like the end of the week we could get up to 6 inches again!!

Even if we get some warm days there’s a ton of snow.
We aren’t like lower Michigan where there isn’t much snow on the ground.

Get out and ride in February it should be a great month!!

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA – 02/06

February 6, 2023 11:00 am

The trails are very good in the majority of the area. We groomed North to holland lake and South to Cut River and trout lake last night. We now have two groomers that are working and one that is still broke down(scheduled to be repaired today), so we will continue to do what we can. Tonight we are planning to groom trail 45 and south to trout lake. There is still some logging going on it also there are some water holes still open in a few spots so please ride with caution and care! The details are below for specific trail grooming. We have had a couple inches of snow over the weekend and moderate amount of traffic so the trails are holding up very well.

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 1/17/26
22 degrees this morning and cloudy. Supposed to get a little snow today but the main thing is its supposed to stay cold for the foreseeable future! It snowed an blowed all day yesterday, its hard to say how much snow we got but I`ll call it 3-4". Been having trouble with my computer the last few days so I`ll say sorry cause I haven`t been keeping up on my reports. Here`s whats been going on with our trails.......
Its been really cold the last few days so we`ve been playing catch-up on our trails since that rain and warm up. Yesterday we took 2 machines w/o drags and ran trail #8 south to try and refreeze that trail down. The water holes on the power line and in the Federal Forest section really opened up with that warm up we had and made them impassable. Me and Groomer Dave were successful in gettin `er done! The gates are now open again in the Federal Forest and the big hole on the power line is filled in!! The swamp just south of town is still closed tho, I`ll cover that in a minute.
Today we are runnin the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9 and the Point trails #452 & #453. Tomorrow we are heading back into the Falls trail #45 with 2 machines w/o drags and see if we can`t get that finally froze in and opened up. If everything goes well in there we will get into the swamp south of town and see what we got on Monday. We will also run trail #8 south tomorrow with a drag.
So, there ya have it, a full run down on our system. If everything goes well we should have our full system opened up by the middle of next week.......FINALLY!!!!!!
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 02/07

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 02/07

Good morning!

Just a heads up that we have a machine down in the Bay Mills/Raco area.

The Pisten Bully needs a new fan and a few other repairs and the parts are finally coming in.

Luckily, everything is in pretty good shape out there and mid week riding is minimal.

It may be Friday morning before we can get it back out there. We appreciate you’re patience as we make these necessary repairs ahead of the weekend!

Thank you!

<>

***quick update!** On the return trip, the groomer started to bust through the beaver pond😟 However, Steve was able to get out of it without sinking the machine or drag. Whew! So, safe to say this will be our last groom in that section until temps drop way down. However, it’s 1000 times better than it was. Until further notice, the section from Devils Hill (south of 12 mile) to about a 1/2 mile south of the pond will not be groomed again. We will continue to groom the ready of 49 in it’s entirety as long as we can**£

Good evening! Facebook will not allow me to post multiple videos in one post so I’m going to drop the longer videos in the comments.

Steve was able to successfully get through trail 49 from the Soo to Kinross in its entirety tonight! Some tense moments for sure as he made his way over some deep water areas. Pete was on stand by and captured the footage as he made his way down.

It has been really hard on all of us to no be able to have this trail fully open. This is the latest I ever recall the 1st groom of the full trail. We appreciate your patience, especially our locals that use this trail as a main artery to and from town from the south. We cannot wait to ask the DNR to officially open it tomorrow!

Thank you Steve for being the one to give it a go! And thank you Pete for being there and brining is the footage!
Full videos in the comments!

I can now say that our trails are ALL in good to excellent condition!🙌🏼❄️🙌🏼❄️

Jay and I hit the city trails last night and they are in good shape. Some choppy spots due to heavier traffic earlier, but we smoothed them out as best we could and saw very little traffic on our run.
Snow was falling the whole run and should be a beautiful ride in the morning.
