Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…and it is. Snowfall to date: 46" with 29" on the ground…more in some places-less in others. Groomers are out doing their thing -be it panning, panking, rolling or grooming when and where possible.
GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY Trails are being groomed as conditions permit- conditions are early season riding. Trail 2 from Ironwood to Marenisco is shaping up but it’s still early. Expect rocks and wet areas. Trail 11N is closed due to wet conditions, swamps are not frozen. Trail 160 remains closed as well as 11S – they will be groomed when the wet areas firm up-
GOGEBIC AREA GROOMERS Lake Gogebic groomers are out trying to get the trails in shape and filling in wet areas to get them to firm up…lots of wet areas remain- reporting early riding conditions-mostly poor but a little better on the northern trails.
U.P. THUNDER RIDERS OF WATERSMEET are going out— they received from 6 to 10" of snow so will be out prepping the trails for grooming as soon as conditions permit.

Greetings Sledders,
Apparently the co-ed naked snow dance is working although the effectiveness seems to have diminished over the years as we didn’t score as high as many other locals around the state but we did get enough snow to get us started.
All three of our machines were out today and we managed to do a light cut and pan on all of our 85 miles, long day but we got it done. I went over to Lovells and back then on up to Fredericanville and beyond and all in all I was pleased with the outcome of most of the trails that I did. The Frederic trail is our busiest segment and traffic was kicking up some snirt in the corners and much of that trip was actually a hard cut/groom to bring the corners back in, I’d call that stretch a fair for the time being.
The Lovells trail and the rest of our system is whiter than the Frederic stretch but you will find a bald spot from time to time. It’s very difficult to make the first pass of the year and not bring up a little dirt or some leaves here and there. The objective is to carry just enough snow to cover your tracks but that doesn’t always work out so pretty good.

CURRENT TRAIL CONDITIONS:
Overall I’m going with fair to good. It’s early season riding so you’re going to see a lot of different conditions, but none that are going to be not ride able. This is always a tough time of the year to rate a trail as a good ride to one is a terrible ride to the next. Just keep in mind that there’s a mixed bag of stuff out there.
GROOMING:
We won’t be moving again until we get more snow or if traffic dictates. We will do our best to give you the finest trails possible as we have for years and I must tell you that there is a one mile stretch in Frederic that won’t get groomed at all, notta, won’t go there, etc and that’s the piece from Northend Grocery south to the end near the gas station. This is due to lack of support for our club from 2 of the 3 businesses on that segment. Please look at the back of the our map to determine which ones I’m talking about, the Frederic Inn isn’t one of them.
WEATHER:
Temps look to hold but not much in the way of new snow for awhile.
