Traverse City Trail Report – Snowblitz Snowmobile Rentals – 01/20

We’ve had a good few inches since the weekend! Much needed after the huge volume of traffic hit the trails pretty hard over the holiday weekend. The groomer went out last night and had a good run at knocking off bumps and bringing conditions to the great level once again. The temps have been real chilly, so if coming North bring plenty of warm layers.

We are having a family day at Ranch Rudolf this weekend. FREE: snowmobile rides, sleigh rides, hot chocolate and an antique snowmobile show…… Come check it out from 12-3 on Saturday…join us on Facebook and keep up to date with sled discounts and stuff going on.

See you on the trail!
Cheers,
Brett

Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 01/20

Greetings Sledders,

WOW a day off!

Sorry about not getting to the reports of recent but I’ve been just a little bit busy.

We’ve had several friends of Fay’s in this week and all have reported good to great times on the trails. The snow we picked up last Fri and Mon night helped out a ton although I was hoping for some snow with more moisture but we will take whatever Mother Nature gives us at this point.

LET’S DO THIS:

WEATHER:
Cold, cold and more cold so bring those layers with you, you’ll need them. The local weather wizards are calling for Lake Effect for us over the next few days, however John Dee’s graphics has it falling short of our neck of the woods. Just have to wait and see.

GROOMING:
We are on our regular schedule. For those of you that aren’t familiar with that, we basically groom the outlying trails during the daytime on the weekends and run a tandem run on the main loop starting late afternoon and into the night. So if you encounter a large John Deere in the evening don’t think that you’re in the clear as the second won’t be far behind.

TRAILS CONDITIONS:
First of all I’m considering the trails good, not great or excellent, but good. Over the ten years of doing this thing I think I may have used great or excellent maybe twice. What you’re going to find is ample snow but it’s not a tight base because of the lack of moisture which hasn’t allowed us to pan the way we would like. This means that it doesn’t take a ton of traffic to push a corner out even if that traffic is riding conservatively. The straights should hold up and stay white for the most part with the corner segments getting snirty. Nothing that we can’t repair and it will all be a matter of luck on your part in terms of getting on a freshly groomed trail and I’ve given you as much of a hint as I can to help you in that endeavor. It’s all a matter of traffic volume and we’re thinking it may be strong, partly due to the Indiana Snowmobile Assoc. ride in this weekend.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Girls

At Fay’s Motel enjoy direct access to the Grayling Area snowmobile trails.
