WATCH FOR ICE ON THE TRAILS, CORNERS CAN BE DANGEROUS – USE CAUTION!!!

We will not be grooming until conditions improve. There just isn’t enough snow. We are looking at a chance of snow for the weekend.

All trails are in poor to fair condition. We are going to have colder temperatures for the next few days. The trails are icy. BE CAREFUL!! We are still expecting snow showers, hopefully we will get a lot of snow.

Trail #9 north from the Seney cu toff to Pine Stump is in fair to good condition, Trail south of Seney cutoff is in fair condition and icy, More snow as you go north and west.

Trail #45 is not being groomed at this time due to lack of snow.

The Trail in town, and at the trail leaving the staging area is in poor condition. We recommend trailering to Holland Lake staging area and leaving from there.

The Newberry trail 9 to Rexton is in fair condition.

Trail to Trout Lake is in poor condition.

The Trail to Epouffette is alson in poor condition.

Watch for logging trucks on all trails.

Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 02/24

GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY – Overall conditions are poor to fair and extremely icy. You’ll likely run into a number of poor areas as you will encounter bare spots. Streets, Highways and parking lots are bare. Watch for over heating as the snow is crystalizing and not cooling the machines.

Lake Gogebic Area – Groomers are out clearing downed trees. Northern trail conditions are overall fair but icy…however you will run into a number of poor areas and encounter bare spots. Streets, Highways and parking lots are bare. Trails south of the lake are in poor condition due to bare spots…

Watersmeet Area – Conditions are poor. Fair out in the woods. Again grooming has stopped and will not resume until weather permitting.

IN ALL AREAS:
Please stop at stop signs.. we’re starting to get some complaints people are not stopping at the stop signs so let’s make sure we stop before someone gets hurt…

ABOUT THE ICE:
There is no such thing as "safe ice". If you choose to ride on a body of water, be sure you check with locals in the specific area you intend to ride and get current information on conditions in that area. When you ride on ice, you are doing so at your own risk.

Our 800# is still down so when calling you will not get a recording. Check back for updates and check out our webcams around the area at westernup.info ….

PHOTO REQUEST from us. If you have any neat snomo pictures you’re willing to share,we’re looking for a cover shot for next years map and other marketing uses. Can’t pay but will give a photo credit on inside of map. Send in jpg-300dpi-to bigsnow@westernup.info. Be aware anything you send will become the property of the WUPCVB so this request is more for amateur photographers…in other words, don’t send anything you may want to sell in the future. We appreciate any help on this.
