Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 12/01

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 12/01

Wow! Finally a year with rideable snow on December 1st. Sleds have been riding in all morning, first phone call came at 7:30 this morning and trailers are parked everywhere. I would guess another eight inches of snow over night and trying to keep up plowing is a trick.

For those of you that have parked trailers at my storage lot I am not going to take any trailers at this time as I am already tight on room down there. Just check with me ahead of time to see if I can get some room down there. Parking out back behind my shop will be just daily and by donation. I would say we have to be about the 2 foot mark for the snow this week.

Still the same story at Lake Margrethe by my house and I havent even dropped my blade yet at home. The snow is all north and west of Frederic. I cant even remember the last time we had snow on December 1. The snow is supposed to keep it up all week so I imagine next weekend will be really busy. Please remember to ride safely.

This is the start of my 27th or 28th year in this place. Boy time flies when your having fun. Thanks for checking in. Pete all the pics below are from this morning in downtown Frederic.

JORDAN VALLEY AREA UPDATE via Jordan Valley Trails Council >> Hats off to Mike, Rich and Pete for spending two cold days fixing a minor issue found on the track of the Pisten Bully! These guys have been on the recovery and fix of the blown track and this latest fix this year and we couldn’t do it without them! Hopefully our machine issues are behind us for the year!
Our Milwaukee Tool are a key part of program. From our impacts, grease guns and chainsaws in the cab of our units, these tools make our volunteers lives easier! Hopefully next year we’ll have a building in Alba to get out of the weather. Go check out the go fund me or visit the Antrim County Snowmobile Club and help us make this happen! gofund.me/a9c1cde53
Our groomers were out all weekend making up for the down machine. Thank you to our volunteers for adjusting their schedules! Trails have come back around since we’ve received some fresh snow to mix in with the crusty snow left from the meld down. Looks like we may receive another foot by next weekend which will help build back up the trail. This week will be frigid so we will adjust grooming as needed for snowfall and temps. Make sure you check out Groomer Tracker for all our grooming!
🚧Trail 4 near the Pinney Bridge there was a car in the trail today, please use caution as the trail maybe rutted from the vehicle or recovery effort🚧 #jordanvalley #gaylord #petoskey #snowphotos

Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 12/01

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 12/01

12/1 Noon report.

Opening day! Well, sort of! Gated areas such as 49 south of the Soo, 480 in the Spile Dam, and 472 between Kinross and north of Rudyard remain closed at this time. Those areas did not get nearly the snow that the soo did and have open water. We are letting those freeze up and get more snow.

Pete is out on his sled clearing trees on trail 8 from the Soo to Raco. There are water holes as you can see, as well as trees down. Sounds like from Ashmun Bay trailhead to South Street is an absolute mess of deep ruts. We’ll get to that when we can.
Mike and others are at the barn looking over the Tuckers and drags one last time.

And here’s the best news- Raco Dave is taking the Pisten Bully from the Soo to Raco on trail 8, behind Pete and crew on sleds.
As expected, it’s a mess with previously unfrozen ground. We hope that Dave can pan and smooth the wet areas in as he goes to allow them to freeze flat instead of rutted up.

Again, we can’t and won’t stop you from riding, but ask that you exercise extreme caution, and please, please try to use smooth throttle control to give us a chance to set up a smooth base instead of a rutted one.

Please subscribe to our trail system on Groomer Tracker. You can see real time where we are and we earn $5 for every subscription. A win-win!

Please know that the deep snow is concentrated to mostly just the Soo, so there’s not a ton of good riding to be had yet.
We will update soon! ❄️❄️❄️

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 1/19/26
Jay and I hit the city trails last night and they are in good shape. Some choppy spots due to heavier traffic earlier, but we smoothed them out as best we could and saw very little traffic on our run.
Snow was falling the whole run and should be a beautiful ride in the morning.
Enjoy! ❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0119 #snowphotos
