For those of you visiting our website FYI !! UPDATED 12-12-11
Snowmobile Trail # 8 between Marquette and Negaunee will be closed until end of December. Over the summer vandals started a fire on the wooden trestle bridge over the Carp River. The fire did extensive damage to the deck and unfortunately the wooden beams below. The Hiawatha Snowmobile Club has received a Grant from the snowmobile trail program to repair the structure. The deck planking has arrived but the large beams are not slated to be in until the LAST week of December.

TASA has recieved new groomer. The new groomer is a John Deere 7330 Comfortgard Premium Cab Tractor, with the saucey 4 track system, and a Sur Track drag. Bader & Sons is the selling dealer and hope to have it to us by the opening of the snowmobile season.

This is the Keweenaw trail system report for Wednesday, December 28, 2011.

The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and groomers are out working on them. Conditions range from poor to good. There are still a few areas of low snow, mainly in towns and near the lake, so watch out for rocks and branches not yet covred by snow. Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails….they have the right of way!!!

There is logging on a short portion of Trails 132 and 133.
