Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 02/25

Greetings Sledders,

The much anticipated storm didn’t deliver what we had hoped. The heavy wet snow that was advertised turned out to be 3-4″ of dry fluffy stuff.

Before the storm arrived the trails were icy, dicey, and not at all very nice. Go ahead and add the ee if you want. I’m afraid that what we did get isn’t enough to fire up the groomers so we’ve got that disappointing factoid to deal with as well.

Right here and now I’m calling the trails names that aren’t fit for this publication, seriously I’m calling the trails fair at best, there’s snow for lube and cooling but you’re going to be banging off the ice, and by this weekend with temps soaring into the 40’s I’m afraid the rating will plummet all the way down to poor. Big jump.

There’s plenty of snow on the ground for off trail riding and I think that the straight away on the Lovells trail will probably hold up if one were to unload at that parking lot and head out to the range areas.

That ride would be great for draggin’ a sled of fire wood out there and building a camp fire to cook some Kogel Viennas over, throw some coney sauce on, man I miss Flint coneys. I digress, sorry.

There is hope for next week as some snow is in the forecast, I really would like to take one more groomer ride.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Girls

At Fay’s Motel enjoy direct access to the Grayling Area snowmobile trails.

Cadillac Area Trail Report – 02/25

February 25, 2016 UPDATE

Just received a call from our Trail Coordinator indicating the forest trails survived the rain and warm-up reasonably well and remain in fair condition. If you are planning to ride in our area this weekend, it would be a good idea to trailer to one of our staging areas near the forest–west of Cadillac. For a list of staging areas, visit our “Staging Areas” page (click the link on right.) There is still some decent riding to be had in the forest.

Grooming has just been resumed…at least until the temperatures warm up on us again. We will not be grooming the White Pine Trail until we get more snow.

Conditions: Fair (forest trails)

We picked up 4-5 inches of snow last night…finally. We have not officially started grooming but we have a couple guys out accessing trail conditions now. Prior to this new snow the White Pine Trail was down to asphalt in places and the In-town trail was down to dirt in several areas and looking pretty nasty. We definitely need more snow in those areas. Hope to have an update on the forest trails for you later today.
