Falls trail getting groomed right now!

<>

February 10, 2017

We do not groom in the village, and the curfew in the village is 11 P.M. to 7:00 A.M

Trail #9 Trail is in very good condition. There is over a foot of new snow that has fallen in the past 2 days.

Trail #45 Trail is in very good condition. There is over a foot of new snow that has fallen in the past 2 days. The trail is plowed from Skyline road to the east for 4 miles for logging. The logging operation will be going on for the next 2 weeks. Please watch out for logging trucks.

Trail #9/2 Trail is in good condition and we are grooming to Epoufette and Trout Lake.

We are grooming all 3 trails everyday. Starting today we will see an increase in traffic on our trails to the north and even though we groom everyday trail #9 & trail #45 are the busiest trails leaving Newberry and by the evening hours our trails are pretty beat up. The groomer leaves the barn at 2:00 and does not return until early morning hours.

It is snowing today and we are expecting an additional 3 to 5 inches of snow.

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/13

Was I dreaming or was that a really incredible ride that I was out on yesterday.

Snow started falling yesterday morning in Frederic, we had only about 3 to 4 new inches total. My brother showed up here from Kzoo about noon and we headed out on a ride and I couldn’t have dreamed a better ride than what we ended up on.

We left here and then up to Starvation Lake to Mancelona, Alba, Jordan Valley Loop, Elmira to Gaylord and back down to Frederic. Many spots with 8 to 12 inches of fresh snow and one spot with 3 to four foot drifts. The wind and snow was blowing at times in white out conditions. The roughest part of the whole trip was the ripply Jordan valley loop. Not horrible but not super smooth either. They really did get hammered with snow Northwest of here.

A 95 mile ride that I wouldn’t have thought possible yesterday morning.

Lots of sleds out and I was surprised when we got back into Frederic on how many sleds were still at both the Swamp & the Frederic Inn. O.k. so I will shut up about how great it was now and go on to this coming weekend.

Things can change in a hurry here but the forecasts for next weekend are not looking like what we would want. All we can do is hope it turns in our favor.

The sun is out heavy here this morning and that’s not good either. Also after watching the two video clips I did yesterday I see that I move the camera way to fast, heck it made me dizzy watching it. I will have to slow down next time I do that. Do some snow chants this week cause I think we are going to need them. Pictures below are from our ride. Thanks for checking in.
