Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 03/17

Report on March 17

Temp yesterday got up to 34 but it’s back down to 13 this morning. The next 3 nights temps only down to mid twenties while days close to 40. Going to take its toll on trails.

This may be the last weekend for widespread good trails. Our trails south of Kinross have the least snow and will go first while Brimley to Raco and north will last longer. Groomers are still out and trails in good shape for now. Lots of snow in woods.

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 03/17

This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Friday, March 17, 2017.

Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and trails are in fair to good condition. The groomers are out.

We are unable to groom on Trail #3 between the Portage Lift Bridge and South Range due to extremely low snow cover. Trails south of South Range to Twin Lakes are still being groomed. There are several spots that are bare and have low snow cover so use caution.

There is a beaver dam on South Freda that may let go soon so use caution. The area is flagged.

All of trail #122 is closed for logging.

Remember when you’re out on the trails to watch out for the groomers. They have the right away. Use caution around logging areas.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for riders’ safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.
