Ontonagon Trail Report – 03/04

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP –

Sorry that these things have been later in the morning gang but most of the time the guy writing them is one of the two guys out setting them.

We hit every mile of our system last night with the exception of Trail #12 from Ontonagon to Greenland. We lost our primary operator for that route so it will only be groomed every other day.

The trails are wide (thanks Andrew!) and smooth. Snowmageddon and cold temps have put down a hard base.

Trails groomed:

Trail #137 from Ontonagon to Rockland.
Trail #13 from Rockland to Trail 101.
Trail #101 from Trail 13 to Trail 12.
Trail #12 from Ontonagon to White Pine.
Trail #1 from White Pine to Lake of the Clouds.
Trail #11N from Lake Superior to Trail 102.

Best trails of the season! Mid-week riding!

Thanks for coming up and riding da 906!

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 03/04

It’s a calm, quiet and cold morning here in Frederic at about 7 degrees. Was about minus ten earlier, had 2 sleds in so far, dont expect to see to many today but trails should be good. Had a call from an ohio guy this morning saying that gaylord trails werent good earlier. It never fails there are always trails that get beat up and with the heavy weekend traffic I had plenty of people tell me they had perfect gaylord trails too. It just depends on your luck, the groomers do a great job but there is nothing that can keep all trails perfect at the same time for everyone.

I hear sleds coming right now so I will see what they say. We are on winter weather advisory till tommorow on the 1 to 3 inch border of the 6 inch snowfall so that will be nice. The guys that just rode in have a cabin around the corner and they havent rode since saturday when they went to Johannesburg, they said that was terrible. Now being monday I would give it another try.

We haven’t had snow like what we have now in many years and the weather outlook for this coming weekend is still darn good. Thanks for checking in and please ride safely. Pete
