Munising Area Trail Report – 02/02

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 2/2

More grooming last night, but we all know it wouldn’t help with the weather today. Warm and rainy day today has put a beating on the junk snow we were working with. Only saving grace will be cold temps through the week will help the trail set back to hard pack. Going to take a couple days to get the whoops cut and refrozen. Still need new snow…. Be careful as corners are washed out, road crossings are super soft and blown out into the road from over eager throttle flappers, and bridge crossings and gates are all washboard. Also added are examples from some of our areas where we apparently let the illiterate snowmobilers ride… Seriously…. We don’t like digging holes for signs. Expecially in ACCURATELY NAMED Rock River Township. We didn’t put these up because we thought it was “FUN”…

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 2/1

TRAIL REPORT – Saturday, 02-01-2020
NICE RIDING CONDITIONS CONSIDERING….
Overall trail conditions are good to very good. Soft snow and ribbons not holding long but the base it hard and flat so very minimal chop developing through the day. Still, we really need a substantial snowfall to bind things together and keep the groomed ribbons lasting longer. The season is short so our theory is to keep the trails flat, riding a flat sugary trail is way more enjoyable than dealing with 3 foot moguls. We will continue to groom and do our best to at least keep the chop to a minimum. Keep the cold weather snow dancing going, Enjoy the Trails and Ride Safe! Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/02

Wow a whole inch of new snow overnight. As I figured sled traffic yesterday was a repeat of last weekend. Still riders saying it was better than they thought it would be but still riders who said it was rough as can be…… but hey at least they were riding. Forcast shows us getting some new snow this week which might bring it around better by next weekend. Time will tell.

I see many people commenting about the enforcement of the rails and how they wont come around here…..its simple, learn the law and then stay the heck away from the tracks. Its not just Frederic its statewide law and probably nationwide with the railroads. I know its very confusing as many railroad grade trails are now trails and many people think the railway here in Frederic is not a working railroad but trains go thru here everyday……I have tried to warn people for years about staying from the tracks and I wish the state would somehow make people more aware when they do register their sleds. Thats about all I can say about this for now. Most people never even know they are doing anything wrong…….

That’s about it for today. Thanks for checking in. Pete
