Cheboygan Area Trail Report – 02/11

CHEBOYGAN AREA UPDATE via Cheboygan Trailblazers Snowmobile & Trail Grooming Club – 2/11

Smoooooth operator Bruce was out on 720 and 9 last night and it groomed up surprising well.

Trail 9 to Mac city was also groomed by one of veterans, Red. He reported lighter the snow the further north he went.

99 to black mtn will be groomed tonight.

We are watching Wednesday weather very closely. If we can get through with enough snow left we will be in business for the weekend.

Reminder: it’s going to be a crazy busy weekend. Be patient at your local businesses and on the trail.

Grand Marais Trail Report – 02/11

GRAND MARAIS UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. – 2/11

From Michael-Back in at 7. South trail was in really good shape. Didn’t take much to get it flattened out.

From Phil-Monday did 8 East, it was pretty choppy. It did smooth out nice, however it’s all sugar snow so expect bumps after some traffic.I did a shortened run, only went to the pine stump trailhead parking lot, due to getting a late start.Reason: I ran the late run Sunday and just about to finish in the early daylight hours Monday AM…while on the trail near the groomer barn… I hit the frozen embankment of dirt and ice and crinkled the left side of the front blade. So in order to get 3 machines back out on the trails for Monday night…Jack gave up his day off, Michael and myself gave up rest. So with some torch cutting, hammering, fabricating and welding (mostly by Jack! with supervision by Elmer) the machine was ready for grooming by 5pm.I only bring this up because it is a joy to work with like-minded, determined, dedicated Co-workers. The sno-trails crew takes a lot of pride in what they do, and that is to get smooth and safe trails. Just saying
