TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 2/15

Groomers we’re out late last night working on the trails. Work was done on one of the last problem water holes. Back filled and smoothed out. Should be a great weekend for a ride. Get out and enjoy our beautiful trails!

Old Photo Day 8:

Desperation is what this trip was, thankfully it was really cold that night so the dirt had frost on it. 1997 Alanson Michigan. We got some looks when we rode through town I can tell you that. Good news was once we got north and into the thicker woods we found enough to ride on. Polaris Snowmobiles

Pretty Exciting that Polaris has extended snow check until May 1st. Not only that but 0% Financing for 48 months and a 2 year extended warranty. Kudo's to Polaris for adapting to our current situation and giving everyone a little more time to order.

Meet the herd..our big draft horses, Prince and Monte. These sweet boys have worked hard all winter and have officially started their spring vacation 😎 Their shoes will be pulled tomorrow and their job for the next several months will be to eat and relax and take care of their herd. Prince is our herd leader, and takes his role very seriously. He is excellent at taking care of all of ‘his’ horses and always has a watchful eye over everyone. Monte is several pegs below Prince in the pecking order, but he is friends with all the horses and adds a comical side to the herd dynamic. Prince, by nature, is our true work horse. There is not a lazy bone in his body and he very much likes having a job and a purpose. Monte...if he could stay in pasture all day eating green grass and hearing everyone tell him how beautiful he is, that’s just what he would do! Monte is an Amish horse drop out, he simply wasn’t adjusting to the hours they put in, he’s a bit on the lazy side, and our Amish friends thought he’d be much better suited to the life of a Ranch horse. Despite these boys coming from different backgrounds, they have taught each other a lot and compliment each other well! They look out for each other and are always together, even when not hitched. Their main roles around here are hay rides and sleigh rides, but both are also broke to ride. Camp kids and wranglers alike enjoy occasional fun rides on these guys. BUT, these are our only two horses in the whole herd who are not water fans and try to avoid crossing the river at all cost...something every other horse in our herd loves! Prince and Monte are each about 2,200lbs and are both Belgians. They truly are gentle giants. These guys are secretly Sid’s favorites (especially Prince) and we often joke around here about the similarities of Prince and Sid vs. Monte and Justin. Prince is Sid’s go-to harness horse and Justin usually picks Monte first, both teasing the other that “their horse” is superior. Truthfully we know they are both exceptional, as are their drivers 😉😁

Oh what a lovely story. I love these gentle giants too. Thank you for sharing.

Love the story of your magnificent ranch hands, need to come and visit!

Love hearing you stories about your horses. All stories come directly from your heart.

Michele, here are the Belgians at Ranch Rudolph. I hiked there a couple of weeks back and you asked for photos of these guys.

I can't wait to come visit the horses during the next trip to the cottage!!

Miss these babies🥰 thanks for sharing
