Traverse City Trail Report – 02/12

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 2/12

I rode almost our entire trail system yesterday with a friend and I want to say that it is in the best condition that I have seen it in all year. The groomers have done an outstanding job with the amount of snow we have. Yes there are a couple of spots that could use a little more snow but overall the trails were hard packed with a few inches of fresh snow on top. The groomers worked at making the hard pack base nice and smooth and it has payed off. If you can get out for a midweek ride I highly suggest it. Great riding and almost no one out there.

I’ll be bringing some of this junk.

How much snow did you guys get last night?

Since a couple of people have posted pictures of their old rides let’s see what you have. Here’s one of mine.

Steveo doesn’t matter what you have -bring it and ride it. But yes I think classic is 15 years or older.

My 2002 is considered “vintage” right?

What a great weekend of riding! I have never seen as many people on our trail system as I did on Saturday. The club hopes everyone enjoyed themselves.
Please don’t forget that this Saturday is our fun run. The groomers will be out in full force and it looks like we will be getting midweek snow so the ride should be awesome! And did I mention prizes? I saw some of the swag that has been donated by our sponsors. I’m talking helmets, googles, gift certificates. Seriously people come out and go for a great ride and win cool stuff!

I’ll be there!

I was out on 5, 551 and 55 this weekend and I don’t know if I have seen the trails in such good shape! Kudos to the volunteers!

Trails are pretty good overall. Couple of thin spots and a few icy corners, but overall trails held up great through the busy weekend. Groomers are doing a great job keeping our system in nice shape. Spent the afternoon guiding a group of ladies that were up here for a girls weekend! They were great riders and had a great time. ... See MoreSee Less
