SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 2/8/26 Good morning all! What a weekend! Trails were super busy! Brimley Bill was out yesterday on his run on part of 480, part of 8, and the 889 loop. The pics are from his run. Big shout out to our Raco crew for stepping up again to help with trail 8 all the way to the Soo. With all of the commitments our Soo volunteers had with the race, we needed some help from the Soo to Brimley and they stepped in for us. Thank you Raco Dave and crew!! The city trails are going to be rough today and will be done tonight. 472/480 out of Kinross are also rough and should be done today. All other trails should be fair to good. Thanks to all of our volunteers for your efforts this busy weekend and always! ❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0208#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 2/7/26 Good morning, everyone! Happy race day!! 🏁 Here’s a report from Turbo and Diane after their run overnight on the 889 loop and part of 8 in the Bay Mills area- “Happy I-500 Day!!! Just wanted to let you know what was going on through the night while everyone was sleeping. SSMSA always strives to give you the best riding conditions. Last night Groomer Warren did trail 8 to the Soo, and passed the Pisten Bully on to me Turbo at 1:15am. We (Mrs. Turbo and I) groomed trail 889 and finished up about 6:45am. My trail report for the night...this is the worst I have seen trail 889. Moguls and snow drifts, it was a challenging night to say the least. These 40 mile an hour winds blew snow everywhere. In places there were 5 foot drifts across the trails. From all the traffic this weekend, a lot of the curves on the trail were really banked. We tried to flatten them out as best we could. I think we did a good job. At the end of the night, I would rate the trails excellent. We want everyone to enjoy the ride to the race with nice trails. Just remember ride right, stay safe and ride sober. We want you back here next year. That's all for now. We are going to bed. Stop and see our volunteers in the vendor tent at the race for the world’s best hot coca, coffee, t-shirts, and hoodies. & ~ Mr & Mrs. Turbo” Looks awesome guys, thank you!! ❄️❄️🏁 #soo #soo0207#snowphotos...
