Sidnaw / Bruce Crossing Trail Report – 03/20

Groomer Report:
Trail Condition: Fair
Last Groomed: March 18th, 2023

Reported On: March 20th, 2023 @ 11:54am

We are very close to being done grooming for the season.
We now have the Groomer Trackers installed and working on our groomers.

Conditions vary on our trails, from good in most places to fair in other areas. Where trail 3 and 8 are together on the old RR grade is the worst, heavy traffic on this stretch takes it’s toll.

Tickets are being issued by Law Enforcement officers for not stopping at STOP signs.

We groom every day that the weather conditions and equipment allows. There may be unforeseen circumstances that prevent us from going out, like a major blizzard and being snowed in at our homes or equipment breakdowns.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan --> Historic late season snow storm ends today. Snow continues this morning, heaviest across the north central highlands. Snow will then quickly diminish this afternoon and will end most areas by late afternoon. Where the heaviest snow has fallen, travel will be very difficult this morning. Also, where snow has collected on trees, gusty winds this morning may still break tree limbs and cause additional power outages. With warmer weather ahead, melting snow will lead to water level rises on rivers and streams, creating the potential of more flooding... #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaHistoric late season snow storm ends today. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan --> The warm and dry pattern will end on Saturday as the next system moves in bringing rain on Saturday and rain/snow on Sunday. The next days will melt more snow, continuing substantial water level rises on rivers, streams, and other low-lying areas. Near the lakeshores, there will be substantial variability in temperatures based on wind direction, but most locations will warm into the 60s and 70s the next few days. This weekend's weather could also impact the ongoing flood risks... #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaThe warm and dry pattern will end on Saturday as the next system moves in bringing rain on Saturday and rain/snow on Sunday. LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming --> It's with heavy heart that we have to make this announcement. We are officially done for the 22/2023 season. Given the extension was only a extra day and we didn't receive any new snow and quite honestly we're tired!! Haha. Thanks to each and every one of you. We are a new crew and learning every day..... FYI. We're hiring operators for 23/24 season joking but not really. Our page won't go silent as there is always something happening. Our trail system remains in good condition, so get out and enjoy the weekend. Later taters...
