FREDERIC – GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> 03/01 Well it’s up to 25 degrees and while its still nice and white out there its rock hard and like riding on broken concrete. I bet I had about a dozen riders ask for ice scratchers yesterday. Riders also told me they saw several sleds pulled off and trying to cool things down. I have seen a few sleds out already this morning. Riding would get better if the sun melts a little on top so people have lube. So northern michigan is pretty much a big rough skating rink right now. Roads are very drty but still snow on the trails. 2 pics below show how much my parking lot changed since yesterday. I have seen sleds out already and the west parking lot on 72 had 4 trucks already this morning. I just returned from an early morning run to home depot in Gaylord and I have to say that all the way up I 75 to exit 282 in Gaylord looks like perfect winter day in northern michigan with everything in the woods and distance looking nice and snow covered. To bad today they claim we might hit 50 BUT I talked to many riders yesterday and everyone saying the same thing that trails are pretty darn good. I drove back from Gaylord to Frederic along trail 7 and pics below show how things look with fresh grooming on trail 7. Took pics both north and south of trail 7 across from Porter Haus and saw 4 sleds out and about before I got back here. Pics below for your viewing pleasure. Thanks for checking in. I am now in Frederic at about 10;15 and its still sunny and up to 27 degrees. Saw many sleds yesterday and I think its safe to say that there are many sites about trails that things are very good for riding right now. Still nice and white every where and things look pretty good. I never heard from the guys that were going to the bridge yesterday to know if they got there or not. Equipment - We’ve got parts engineered and are on the way for the JD out of Alba. They worked on it today, hopefully next couple days we can get that back on line.
Weather - Don’t look now but the rest of the season doesn’t look good. We’ll adjust grooming for the temperatures and conditions. Mid 40s and 50s don’t make it an easy job
