Judging by the sled traffic we had tons of riders enjoying our excellent trail conditions all weekend. I can still hear the sleds out my office window now, although the traffic is overall quieter. I haven’t yet heard from last-nights groomers as to specific trail conditions but overall they are still very good. There is little snirt at arteries and the trailhead. By the looks of the advisory that’s posted today could get a little interesting. Predictions are for a mixed bag of freezing rain and snow. Temps could climb into the 40’s although it seems unlikely as of right now. It’s only in the teens. Yesterday it was -2 in the morning. Could this be the Ides of February? Stay tuned and we’ll both find out together!

A good overall weekend in the Straits Area. Nice weather and lots of pond hockey people. Youth pond hockey is filling rooms (places with pools) quickly, so if you are headed this way for the coming weekend, book early.
Trails are in great shape, with no problems to report. It had gotten a little choppy before the Friday night run, but that was all fixed up before morning, and again on Saturday night. Groomer continue to report flat fast conditions, with lots of people out enjoying the trails. Big thanks to our guest groomer Griz on Friday night (um, I mean Sat morning)
#6 got her new LED lights last week, and so both tractors are running strong and on schedule. I will likely drop a day or 2 of groomer this week if the trails don’t need to be groomed. Better to keep them frozen hard, then to rip them up, just to lay it back down.
Forecast is a bit weird tonight, freezing rain for tomorrow, but then a possible 3-4” of topping snow, and good temps with a bit more snow later this week. This coming weekend will continue to have great trails, and good weather to enjoy the area.
