Traverse City Area Trail Report – 01/15

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> 01/15

We continue to get a light lake effect. This morning we had about 2 inches of fresh snow. Tomorrow, we’re forecasted for 1-3+ depending on which way the wind blows. The groomers have been doing a great job with the snow they have to work with. The trails are rated as good with some thin spot with snirt. We need a good system dump! Until that happens, GTASC groomers will do the best they can with what they have to work with. Remember, Ride Right, Ride Safe, Ride Sober.

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> Groomer Mike went out on the south trail yesterday and sent in some pics. Mike said the trails groomed up nice with the exceptions of a few small water holes. Looking at his ribbon, I think I'm going out for a ride today. Thanks Mike for volunteering your time. Remember to Ride Right, Ride Safe, Ride Sober.
Also, GTASC will be enrolling in the Groomer Tracking App program. Groomer Mike was instrumental in getting the GTASC on-line with this program. We anticipate to have this up and running very soon. We will update you when we are live. Thanks again Mike for your involvement in the club! #traversecity #snowphotos

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> And with the wind, down come the tree's! A group of members went out today to take care of the downed tree's on the South and West trails.
There is still more that needs to be completed, so be aware if you are out riding. Special thanks to Paul, David, Pat, Steve and Jeff for volunteering their time. Thanks to the group of riders coming from Kingsley that helped out with one of the tree's. Also, thanks to the gentleman from Fife Lake that came with a large chain saws for a big tree that had fallen there. It takes everyone lending a hand to keep these trails safe. The trails are being panned and the groomer drivers are reporting numerous water holes due to the rain we received prior to the snow. Be careful out there. Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 01/14

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 01/14

1/14/25
Bryan and his son Logan hit the city trails tonight. They stayed off of the last stretch of the Kewadin Trail to help it freeze in more. Here’s what Bryan had to say-

“Good evening!
Town went well tonight. Only notable things would be there’s still some wet spots to the high school on 497, all minor and should set up good. I took the trail (449) to kewadin just along the power lines. The power company had removed some cribbing/poles and that left spots right off the trail that drop about 1-2’. I tried to leave enough to have a berm between the trail and the drop. Did quite a bit of brushing! Other than that just a happy boy in the passenger seat!!”

We can’t stress enough, PLEASE stay on the trail. There are hazards right next to the trail. Be smart and be safe.
Thank you Bryan and Logan!

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 01/14

1/14/25 trail 49 update-
🚨🚨As you can see, there are some areas that opened back up. This is on 49 between 12 mile and Gaines Hwy. Please use extreme caution!!!

We have a couple of days of warmer temps coming, then back to a deep freeze. This will freeze up solid in the coming days, but we wanted to get the word out for our weekday riders.
Thanks all! Be safe!

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/31
Happy New Years Eve!
Snow is ongoing in our area. I show around 3-4” new snow in the Soo so far, reports in Brimley of at least 7” new snow.
A word of caution- we do not like to send groomers out during the day, but sometimes we do not have a choice. Kenny and Jim will be headed out to tackle 889 in the Bay Mills area around noon today. There are many trees down and heavy drifting. It will undoubtedly be a long run for them, and the main goal is to get things opened up.
Pat is out early south of Kinross on 494. 472 west to Tilson should also be done today. As a reminder, we cannot groom past Tilson Rd on 472 due to construction equipment.
Please be on the lookout for the groomers, and if you’re able to move small branches safely, we appreciate the help!
Subscribe to Groomer Tracker to see where the groomers are in real time.
Thank you! #soo
