About 5-6 inches of fresh, heavy snow last night and calling for another 3-7 inches today. 22 degrees and snowing right now. Very windy. Groomers are heading out for the first time of the season to pack things down and get trails smoothed out. They’re heading north and east

It is snowing….Yipee ! 4-6 in the forecast. Trails are ice covered but new snow will allow the groomers to get back out and make the trails good again. We plan to open tomorrow if we get what is forecast for us.

The trails are open. We are going grooming today. THERE IS A 90% CHANCE OF SNOW FOR MONDAY. The weather channel is saying there is a winter storm watch through 1a.m. Tuesday, with blowing winds fron 45 to 60 mph, with blizzard conditions. Newberry is expecting 5 to 6′ of the white stuff today once the winds turn more North this afternoon. There are a lot of sledders north up near Grand Marais over to Pine Stump Junction.
FYI: There will not be gas at Rainbow Lodge this year as they are closing for the winter. There is a gas pump logo on the trail map, but they will be CLOSED. The map is new for this year,and I recieved the information about Rainbow Lodge after the maps went to the printer.

Snowmobile Trail # 8 between Marquette and Negaunee will be closed until end of December. Over the summer vandals started a fire on the wooden trestle bridge over the Carp River. The fire did extensive damage to the deck and unfortunately the wooden beams below. The Hiawatha Snowmobile Club has received a Grant from the snowmobile trail program to repair the structure. The deck planking has arrived but the large beams are not slated to be in until the LAST week of December.
TASA has recieved new groomer. The new groomer is a John Deere 7330 Comfortgard Premium Cab Tractor, with the saucey 4 track system, and a Sur Track drag. Bader & Sons is the selling dealer and hope to have it to us by the opening of the snowmobile season.
Unfortunantley Trail Permits are going up this year, they will now be $45.00
There will be new Trail Maps out this year, they are still only $4.00. Avaiable at local Merchants & Restaurants.
