Benzie Area Trail Report – 02/02

North of 39 is not good. Highbridge all the way around 39 and bear lake are surprisingly good. All were groomed and nobody’s riding. 125 miles and never seen a sled, I love Mondays!

Benzie Visitor Bureau – 02/02

Hi all! Happy Groundhog Day! The rodent say 6 more weeks! But we Northern Michigan folks know that can mean nothing! Our Winter this year has been yet another rollercoaster! We did get a few inches of new snow Friday but just not enough! Trails are rideable but it is thin out there so not great. Trails were groomed over the weekend but there isn’t much for them to work with. There is some snow on the ground but just not a good base. Snirt and dirt in some places and ice in some so just be careful out there! Forecast calls for a little snow this week bu not much to speak of. They are saying we could see a possible system next Sunday so let’s hope so! WE NEED SNOW! Remember IF you ARE out there over the weekend, that the Benzie Manistee Snowbirds Clubhouse has an OPEN HOUSE every Saturday thru February! Stop in at 14121 Industrial Drive in Kaleva. Fun conversation, free warm-up coffee or hot-coco & a snack provided by the club! THANKS tons for the email FedEx Lloyd! Glad to hear from you again! OK! So till next time keep up the snow dance and hopefully soon I can say SEEYA on the trails baby!

Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 02/02

For the next few days we will have cold temps with a chance of snow at the end of the week.

The Gogebic Range Trail Authority Groomers Report:
The GRTA is reporting all three groomers are down again. They don’t know when they will have one up and running again. As soon as I hear anything from them I will have it posted as to when the groomers are up and running. The GRTA has had a rough go this season. First with all the water now they are having problems with their groomers. All trails are in poor condition. Trial 11S is closed due to logging this winter.

Lake Gogebic Groomer’s Report:
All trails are groomed and are in good to very good condition. VERY IMPORTANT: Watch for the reroute where trails 1, 102 and 8 West meet, north of Merriweather going west for about 5 miles. Watch for changes and new signing. There will be many pipeline workers plus a lot of heavy equipment in the area. This reroute will continue to the end of the season. You may also want to top off your gas if headed north through this area as the reroute will add an extra ten miles (there and back) to your trip with no gas stops between Lake Gogebic and Konteka.

The Watersmeet Groomer’s report:
Our groomers are running daily and trails are all groomed. All trails are in good condition but use caution on corners they are icy. We need more snow.

Please follow the orange barrels and stay on trail going across Cisco Chain.

Please remember groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, please pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them. Groomers have the right of way.

JUST ONE MORE REMINDER: PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS. RIDING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN RESULT IN THE CLUBS LOSING EASEMENT FOR THAT TRAIL AND IT CAN ALSO RESULT IN A POSSIBLE TICKET FOR YOU.

Call our snowmobile report at 800-522-5657 anytime.
