KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 01/26

❄️❄️We received a couple inches of fresh snow yesterday in areas of the Keweenaw! Every little bit helps!

Don Mclsaac and his wife Cindi have been up since Sunday riding daily. Don shared these photos with us and said, “….we are staying at Tom and Gina’s apartment over the South Range Pub – Michigan. Yesterday we rode from South Range, south on trail 3 to trail 12 to trail 174 to Sidnaw for lunch. Continued on trail 8 to trail 3, then back to South Range. 155 miles total and trails were very good, although a bit mogully from South Range to The Mosquito Inn. We have been coming for 4 years and NO regrets. Appreciate ALL the groomers do to keep trails in such good shape!”

Thank you so much for sharing, Don!

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Lake effect snow continues today, stops, then resumes in intensity overnight into Tuesday, January 26th and 27th, 2026.
Discussion
Our west winds kick up to the 30-40 mph range later tonight. Prior to that happening, a northwest wind will batter some lake effect areas with an additional 1-3" this afternoon, with pockets of 4"+ possible. As we move into Tuesday, a widespread blanket of 2-5", with pockets of 4-8" will overtake the Lake Michigan shoreline, eastern UP, and Keweenaw Peninsula. Temperature difference between water and air, plus adequate lift will fuel lake effect all the way through Wednesday morning. Additionally, we have a clipper moving through on Tuesday that will bring isolated pockets of 1-3" to the east side. Most locations should still be beneath an inch, however, too many variables are in play to not mention it.
Travel will be impacted along and west of US-131, with minor travel impacts all the way over to the US-127 corridor (I-75 north of Grayling). The clipper will be swinging through with the initial push of gusty winds after midnight tonight through 10 am Tuesday morning. Again, this will be for totals starting at noon today, and lasting through 8 am EST Wednesday, with most of the snow falling throughout the entire day Tuesday. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyLake effect snow continues today, stops, then resumes in intensity overnight into Tuesday, January 26th and 27th, 2026.

Ironwood – Western U.P. Trail Report – 01/26

TRAIL REPORT – 1/26/23
Trails are rated very good to excellent. Main corridors are being groomed nightly and connector trails every other night to two nights based on use.

160 and 11 were groomed last night, thank you to Ryan Christian for knocking another powder paving out on 160. He said 6″ of fresh snow came down in spots. We have seen fresh snow across our trails the past several days. The snow has really helped to improve conditions, which were very good to begin with! Trails are froze back in and we are set up for a great weekend of riding. Be sure to #snowmobileironwood and see the TeePee on 160! Thank you Matt Rogers for keeping the fleet greased up and fixed up for the boys to groom with!

IRONWOOD / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club – 01/25

Groomer just left to do trail 160.
Another groomer is currently out on trail 11. Trails are flat and in excellent condition. Ride right, stay on the trail, stop at all stop signs and watch your speed’s in the town’s.
