Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 12/13

22 degrees with light snow in the air here in Beautiful Downtown Frederic. I have been trying to catch up on plowing and just trying to get things done. I really never thought we would get snow so quick. The snow has kind of dampened up some which makes it a bit more packy. I have seen a few sleds around but still none here into the shop so far. I walked cross town and down the in town trail by the railroad tracks in grayling yesterday afternoon. In walking on the trail it was packed well and I was surprised that I didn’t see any dirt on it. Its supposed to stay cold all week with some system snow on Saturday according to the weatherman. So things could possibly improve. I think its still way to early for the groomers to even think about it yet. I have not talked to the groomer guru aka Keith from Fays Motel yet to find out his thoughts but I will in the next day or so. That’s it for now, gonna go move more snow. Thanks for checking in and Please Ride Safely. Pete — http://frederic-mi.com/22-degrees-with-light-snow/

Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 12/12

We still have to wait a bit longer for our groomers to get out to groom. We have received about 12 inches of new snow but still not enough to get out and groom. We do have some positive news, our temps are only going to be in the single digits the next couple of days so this will help firm up the trails.

The Gogebic Range Trail Authority: Still to early to get out to groom. We will let you know as soon as the groomer will be out.

Lake Gogebic Area Groomers: We have gotten about 12 inches of new snow and ice is starting to form on the lake. Our groomers are hoping to get out mid-week to start packing the trails.

For those of you who can’t wait another day to ride, unplowed roads and Trial 8 east are probably the best riding this early. Trails 1 south & 13 south are wet. Trial 102 & 13 north are rideable but very rough. Trail 100 at the south end of the lake, is temporarily closed while we reroute around some logging.

With all that said snowmobiling should be looking pretty good by the weekend, however there are always some hurdles to overcome early on in the season – so just don’t expect perfection just yet.

The U.P. White Thunder Riders of Watersmeet report: We have 6 inches on the ground. Not enough to get the groomers out yet unfortunately. We really need another 4-6 inches before we get the groomers out. Hang in there.
