Snow Accumulation:7-16 inches

We picked up some snow yesterday–we’re guessing about 4′. It’s pretty hard to tell as the wind was so fierce yesterday it blew the snow all over the place leaving some areas bare and piles in other places. Tomorrow night there is a storm watch on for our area so we could get some more snow. That would be nice. The groomers are not running at this point.

The groomers went out to pan earlier this week but we pulled them back because there still wasn’t enough snow in some areas to handle the heavy equipment. We were delighted to get these terrific pictures of JD 6175R on one of its first grooms with the new tracks installed though. Hope you enjoy them.

December 15, 2016 – Caberfae Peaks

We received another 8′ of snow in the last 24 hours, bringing the 7 day total to over 28 inches!

Snow Accumulation: 6-16 inches

We sent the groomers out yesterday only to discover we were a bit hasty. Even though we were just panning, the heavy equipment was bringing up leaves and debris so we have parked the groomers until we get more snow. The groomer on Trail 35 yesterday sent in some terrific pictures of JD 6175R on one of its first grooms with the new tracks installed. Hope you enjoy them.

Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 12/15

Greetings Sledders,

Just a quick update. We got about 6″ of LES last night and it’s still snowing as of 3:30 this afternoon. Both groomers are out panning and I’ll be out tonight to pan what they don’t get to today. We are expecting an additional 6 or so of system snow sometime tomorrow and we intend to repeat today’s efforts.

Just a reminder, this is early season riding and base building is a process, it takes many passes and a lot of fresh snow to get it where we want it. I’ve read over the years where there are places that can get 10″ of snow and instantly end up with 10″ of base, I’m not sure what we are doing wrong but that hasn’t happened here.

I would rate the trails as fair to good and improving by the day.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Girl
