Ironwood Trail Report – Gogebic Range Trail Authority – 12/05

IRONWOOD / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club

Trail 2 has been groomed from Hurley, WI to Marenisco and trail 8 has been rolled/opened up as well. The ski hills were groomed last night and the soft spots continue to shrink each day, very easy ride. We are sending the groomer out trail 160 today to pack it. The only closed trail is 11S which will remain closed for the season. Be sure to stop in the VFW in Wakefield for a great lunch, open daily!! Thank you Kevin of Mt. Horeb, WI for logging his first solo miles on GRTA equipment! Trails are rated in fair to excellent condition, but hazards remain!

Have never stopped at Two Fat Guys grill before, I plan to make it a point to do so on my rides this year, looks awesome!!

I rode my sled in kansas today..lol...we got damn near a foot of snow

Thank you so much! Going to do a long sunny ride tomorrow and this will really make the day! 🌞😍

Richard Weihert, Way up Nort! lol

It's still early season, but we are 30 days ahead of freezing in this swamp. It did cost us time today as pictures show. We didn't get to Marenisco as fast as we hoped, but we didn't break anything! Our President would have rather got his sauna fire hot tonight, but he's even happier to have great help to give him a break from the rigs even though he had to go tow them out. Gotta love that New Holland Agriculture power!! Now that he is out, time for a cold beer at Den-O's Sports Bar in Wakefield, just two blocks up the hill from Wakefield gas stations on main street! #supportoursponsors ... See MoreSee Less

Took about 24" of pulling and in about 5 minutes he was continuing. Just took 2 hours to get there!!

Happy nothing broke, and thankful nobody got hurt!! Thank you for all your efforts!

Track Pack with sleds. To heavy for big equipment in some areas.

Why right b.s reports . My group left Bessemer around 7:30 am by the time we got to trail 8 it was really bad. Left the hoop around 10pm never seen a groomer . The trails were blown out. And why would someone go get grooming training to groom your trails to generate money for your local economy. There on vacation from work to give there money there hard earned money to your local businesses. Just remember that your not the only game in town. There is snow in Wisconsin and they have groomers to . And its save 2 hours of drive time. So when people aren't there spending money that they work hard for just remember shitty trails means that people will stop coming

Love 160 on the wheelers or sleds. Wish jack asses would stay on the trail or stay home.

We saw a lot of late night riders last night. Please remember we try hard to have a good looking trail for Saturday morning. Ride all night we don't care, but if the trail is soft from recent grooming, ease up!! We had to redo several sections due to 1am and later riders rode very hard on the fresh trail. We get the enticement and first ride euphoria, but help us out next time eh? ... See MoreSee Less

It's too bad there wouldn't be a way to keep mountain sleds off trails, they buy mountain sleds go to the mountains, no respect for the hard work put in to build the trails and maintain them, you don't need a 2 inch plus paddle for a trail. Alot of people with no respect

Riders, Please work with us, not against us! Our ONLY objective is to give you a great day, please help us do that!!

I'm thinking trail permits should be priced by lug height.

All, what is being asked is to respect the hard work preparing the trails and don’t rip them up regardless of sled type!

Unfortunately , There’s a lot of throttle jockeys that feel the need to tunnel out at every stop.🤦‍♂️

My 96 indy 500 doesn't rip trails but those mountain sleds do

Burns my britches when that happens...

Last but not least, don't drink and ride!!

I wouldn't count on it. Too many people who don't care what they leave behind them and couldn't care less about the next rider or all the work u guys put in to get the trails open and ready. Thanks for what you do but those dicks will never learn until the day when there are no more trails to ride.

I say pound it lol

Dan hmmm?

When we rode out west in Wyoming after dinner one night, the groomer driver stopped us and told us to get the hell off the trails til morning. He said he doesn’t groom all night for us idiots to destroy a fresh groomed trail that needs hours to set the fresh groom.

That is another reason to not & I repeat not have groomer trackers in the groomers because you get the idiots out there following the groomer & wrecking the trail. All they care about is that they have a smooth trail to ride. I think people need to take snowmobile safety refresher courses every 5 years to pound common sense riding habits , maybe then clubs would get more members. But the biggest way to get people to change their habits is peer pressure & calling the idiots out in public when they are laughing in public about their antics on the trail. The one way our club got people to slow down on our trails we got involved with the sheriff's department & have trail patrols out on our problem areas & it sure is funny how people slow down when they see the trail patrol vest out. The word spreads like wild fire from bar to bar that there is a patrol out.

Well I get the frustration but some of us like to ride at night so we can see the headlights of idiots coming on the wrong side of the trail like they do all day long. But we certainly don’t go out of our way to do holeshots and ruin the trail if we pass a groomer. Too many disrespectful jack hole kids nowadays that have never been punished. Everyone’s a winner. 😡

Groom after bar close

I remember riding on the back of your Dad's machine many years ago. He loved speed and trying to scare the s..t out of me!

Would be nice do have more law enforcement on the trails starting late in the afternoon until after bars close take all the drunks to jail also seen yesterday or somebody had drink beer on the trail through the cans down they need to have a zero tolerance for alcohol level anyone caught with alcohol on their breath it's a drunk driving ticket goes to jail this would stop a lot of BS also need to see if there high also !!

Hell ya pound the shiit out of it I am . Quit complaining you get thousands from trail pass bullshit.

It’s probably the same type of people that trespass on private and ride right by no snowmobiling signs and piss off landowners, be the first ones bitch about the trails and grooming yet will they will never join a club and see what its take to setup and maintain a trail then clubs loses permission from landowners and trails get closed or rerouted to a shitter spot and they bitch about that to.

Same ediots that ride on wrong side of trail!

Grand Marais Trail Report – Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. – 12/03

GRAND MARAIS UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc.

We have Max and Michael heading back out to 443. They were able to clear approx 14 miles yesterday in about 13 hours. Jack, Phil And Emmett will be heading back out to 8 west. They still have some trees to take down. The hope to tackle 88 & 888 also. We’re getting blasted with questions on whether our trails will be fully groomed by the weekend. Answer: we just don’t know. We hope so but it’s extremely slow going. There are literally 100s of trees down on the trails. We’ll keep updating as we go. We want you to come here to ride but we want you to have trails as safe as we can make them and we’re not there yet!! Please be patient and if you’re out today use extreme caution and watch for our groomers!!

From Phil - Ran trail 8 East 11miles past the pine stump parking lot. Lots of traffic out on the trails. Sleds were still out at 1:30am. 8 East was pretty bumpy, it smoothed out real nice though.Even after grooming some areas of the trails are so soft the trails aren't holding up for too long.My guess is when we’re widening the trails, the drag pulls in all that early season deep powdery snow from the sides of the trails. And boy does the machine pull hard and if you get too far over to the side the machine, just sinks down. Lucky we don't get stuck.8 East is smooth and has lots of beautiful scenery with snow covered trees . Tonight is the first night, in the last 13 days, that I felt like I was out grooming. Minimal storm damage tress to deal with no trail signage to put up. Hum.... I have heard, that we need to start working SMARTER.... Maybe I shouldn't be pulling that soft fluffy snow on the trail.

Sorry..... I had to add my 2¢. 😂
