Happy Monday all! Luckily we did get a bit of snow over the weekend and thats been enough to make the trails way better! The groomers went out last night as kind of a Bonus groom since we got snow! South trail was groomed Saturday and last night Beulah to Copemish was groomed and looking pretty darn good! Same with the Tville Landis Crystal loop, north was done also, but the East trails were not groomed last night since the snow is just too sparce. Forecast is for fairly cold mid week and a better chance of snow later in the week, so for now its decent out there and I’ll keep ya informed as the week goes! By the way, those groomers are out there volunteering their time and energy to us, so if ya see one, get outta their way and give them a thumbs up as they go by! THANKS TONS to Mike T for the consistent reports and for stopping by to see me last week! Ride smart, sober, & safe! CYA ON THE TRAILS! Carol

Newberry Trail Report – Halfway Lake Resort – 03/04

After the beautiful weather we had Tuesday, our snow gauge went from 9″ Wednesday to 16″ this morning. Sitting in an open field it is exposed to both the sun and wind. Local trail reports (Seney and Grand Marais) are encouraging. Yesterday the trails north and west were reported to be in good condition from sledders staying with us and those visiting the North Store down the road.

Enjoy the weekend and ride safe,

Nicole

Snow depth map showing how much snow we have here at Halfway Lake.

From Grand Marais’ trail report:

3-4-11 ~ Yesterday was a winter wonderland around here; snowed off and on most of the day. Big, beautiful flakes fell like in a movie – the kind of snow that makes you feel like a kid again and you want to stick out your tongue and catch the flakes. In fact, I did! I couldn’t resist the temptation! Anyway, we got around 5 or 6″ here in town and more out in the snowbelt. The trails west of the junction with Trail #9 and north of M-28 are in good condition and this new snow is like icing on the cake. Still, expect the trails to be slick with icy conditions in open areas and corners.
