Petoskey / Mancelona Trail Report – 01/03

Petoskey Snowmobile Club – 01/03
Here it is, finally some snow to talk about. The big storm that hit some of Northern Michigan only dropped a couple inches in our area, while areas to our south, Gaylord, Elmira, Mancelona Lakes of the North, you get the idea. From what I heard on the news last night Jordan Valley received enough snow to get out and start grooming, hopefully we`ll be there soon too. Keep checking in, as info comes in I`ll keep you posted.

Mancelona Trail Report
Jordan Valley Trails Council
Updated: 01/02

IT SNOWED!!!!!!!!!! Do not really know how much because the strong winds blew it all over the place. The Piston Bully in Mancelona is heading out this morning for its first run of the year with a reported 5 to 15 inches of snow in that area. The JVTC has a new Dubie winged groomer this year that will be used on the Jordan Valley Trail and up to Charlevoix. This gives us two good drags and one that is well worn and waiting for replacement that we will do our best to keep together for the season. For everybody familiar with seeing the big Cat Challenger grooming through the Valley for the past 12 years it will not be seen this year. The Cat had a machanical failure so we have a John Deere tractor with Soucy tracks to use for this year and hopefully there will be enough money next year to replace the Cat with a new machine, Think Snow.

Drummond Island Trail Report – D.I. Resort – 01/03

Winter is finally here! 5-7″ of snow covering the island from Sunday’s winter blast. Cold temperatures in the single digits will be great for getting the ice bridge open sometime this month.

We will need a lot more snow to get the trails in good riding condition, check back for updates.

Drummond Island Grooming Association – 01/03

The Groomer went out for the first time on Monday, Jan 2, 1012 on the west end. While some areas of the Island got 6 inches of snow other areas only have an inch or so on them. Only one major water hole on the west end is still not frooze but the cold temps we had last night and today should help frim it up. We stilll need another 6 inches!!!

There is not enough snow to go on the east end yet!!! * Let It Snow * Let It Snow * Let It Snow*
