Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/25

The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open. The groomers are out working on the trails and overall the trails are in good to very good condition.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.

Remember to watch out for the groomers and deer when you’re out on the trails…..they have the right of way!!

Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.

Grand Marais Trail Report – 01/25

What can I say that hasn’t been said already?! It is finally winter in da UP! With two to three feet of snow on the ground, more coming down as I type… and the weatherman keeps adding another advisory every time one expires for more and more snow. We’ve got a good base established with plenty of powder to play in. The temperatures have moderated with lows in the teens and highs in the twenties. In my estimation, I’d say that’s – PERFECT conditions to ride!

My work is all caught up, it’s the weekend and tonight, I’m going to go play in a groomer – heading out east on Trail 8! Haven’t driven in a couple years but I can’t just sit here any more hearing about how beautiful it is . . . I gotta get out there!

Ride safe and enjoy the view!
Kay
