Cadillac Area Trail Report – 02/28

Trail Conditions: Very Good to Excellent

Just returned from a ride south of Cadillac on the White Pine Trail to Reed City, east to Baldwin, north to Irons area and then back east into the Cadillac system. The trails were all smooth and a joy to ride. Our trail permit dollars are being well spent area wide taking care of the trails. For those of you who are able to ride mid-week know what a privilege it is. Traffic is light and the trails are generally smooth as glass. It’s impossible for the groomers to keep up with the demands of the heavy traffic the weekends bring. They sure try.

Get out there and ride. Tomorrow is March 1–yikes!

REMEMBER there are fewer signs in the woods this winter so when you finally do get a chance to ride, take your time and enjoy the ride. The need for speed may be costly to you and to others. Assume every trail is a winding trail and be ready for the next curve.

A reminder to those who enjoy riding the White Pine Trail, State Park officials have asked snowmobilers to ‘refrain from operating snowmobiles when less than four inches of snow cover the trail.’

Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 02/28

Here is our final report for February. Temps will be a high of 25 today with lows in the teens. Looks like our temps will co-operate through the weekend with cold enough temps to allow our groomers to still get out and do what they are good at. Trails are nice and firm..Get out and enjoy some riding could be one of the best weekends to ride.

The Gogebic Range Trail Authority: Reports all trails are groomed. With temps in the 20’s after today it is still cold enough for our groomers to get out and groom. Over all conditions Good-some are very good, and as usual, you will run into some fair which mainly depends on traffic and weather. Please be careful on hills and corners which can be icy.

The Lake Gogebic groomers report: Grooming will continue weather permitting. Expect some bare spots around corners along with some ice. Trails are in good condition but again you will run in to some fair spots depending on the traffic. PLEASE REMEMBER TO PULL OVER IF YOU SEE A GROOMER. THEY HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY…
Just a reminder the Bergland Mobil gas station has closed, so plan your fueling accordingly.

The Watersmeet groomers report: All trails are groomed every night weather permitting. Trails are in good condition expect some bare spots near town but out of town trails are as smooth as can be.

Keep in mind groomers can be out day or night so watch out for them and please pull over or slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by.

Please be careful on corners as you know several Michigan Trail signs have been discontinued. These signs are posted on our trail map. PLEASE BE SAFE!!!!
