The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open. The groomers are out working on the the trails and the trails are in very good condition. Remember to watch out for the groomers and deer when you’re out on the trails…..they have the right of way!!
There is some logging being done on sections of trails 122 & 133 so please watch for the signs and be aware.
The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.
Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.

Yesterday we had 3-4 inches of wet snow and then temps were upper 30s with fog and light misting. Today it is snowing, things have frozen up and the forecast looks cold the next few days. Groomers will run when temps are below freezing.
We don’t have an accurate trail report until riders return today. I can tell you that we have 26 inches on the snow gauge and our driveway and our county dirt road are still covered with snow/ice -very minimal dirt showing in a handful of spots.
There is a ton of snow and a deep base, the question will be are the trails icy and how icy? If we get the predicted snow things will be in great shape and off trail riding is prime.
The trails into/out of town were becoming snirty and bumpy on Sunday, I am unsure how they fared after yesterday’s warm spell. Ride safe and have fun! We will update after speaking with riders.
We are located 12 mi NW of Newberry and 7 miles S of Pinestump Junction. Between Grand Marais and Paradise.
Thank you for your phone calls.
